Sometimes you may hear it desribed as the "Shell" game or "Cups and Balls" but thimblerig is a magician's staple where three objects cover other smaller objects and seem to jump from one to the other, then back again or disappear completely. The game is almost 5,000 years old and persists unrelentingly. In the foreclosure version I have seen during the past few weeks it's the disappearing variety I would like to concentrate on. Not too many associates could claim that this would be valuable words of advice to our Sellers. You'd expect to receive an awkward look and the typical "What, are you crazy?" response. Well, this is often true but it has been a successful tactic for some over the past few decades. It is a tool to use sparingly and only on the right property that you feel strongly about that needs a push. Ask most Realtors in the Naples area how their 2012 was and they'll tell you, not bad. The same may not be said by the Buyers and Sellers who participated in our activities of 2012. Depending which side you were on know that prices generally took a small dip and Sellers necessarily could feel that pinch. Our Buyers on the other hand may have had to settle for a less than perfect choice due to the lack of inventory exhibited here. Many times we seek an easier way through this labor of love we call the real estate business. Whatever our relation we have with people and their homes it is with the understanding we only provide a service to that cause and not a physical product to be consumed other than ourselves. With that being said it remains difficult to assess our impact to the persons we are attempting to assist. Many people have never heard of or know anything about what a slack-wire is. My Grandfather would have scoffed at tight rope walking. Have you ever been up close to the halyards tensioning an artists tightrope. It's as stiff as your concrete floor. Granted it is only an inch in diameter but it is relatively solid. Like the Buyer out there today, they're not as flexible as we would like and for good reason.
