memories: What Does Arlo Guthrie have in common with the Local MLS? - 06/13/15 07:55 AM
Some of you are saying to yourself who the heck is Arlo Guthrie? Without going into a diatribe of the 60's, he is a musician and song writer whose folk and folk-rock songs brought awareness of social injustice and peaceful protest to an enlightened many with his continuing political activism beginning in early 1967 to today. The apple didn't fall far from the tree. His Dad was also an American folk artist, Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Guthrie who is best known for his song "This Land is Your Land", an American Classic, which I'm nearly certain all school children have sung at … (8 comments)

memories: Some Sunday Silliness Saturated with Syncopation - 09/28/14 09:42 AM
.....while some shrimp scampi slowly simmers on the stove.

After a particularly perfect weekend comes to an end this old tune
jumped out at me. Initially I was excited just to have found a high
quality audio of the song then the flood of TV memorabilia took over
the screen. Immediately it transported me back to 1965 and I might
add, oh, what a long strange trip it's been. KEEP ON DANCING!

memories: World Renowned Florida Inn Will Be Closing Its Doors - Chalet Suzanne - 07/05/14 03:08 AM
I had received the email yesterday that The Chalet Suzanne will be retiring on or about August 4th.  It has been a landmark restaurant in central Florida for more than eight deades and I've been its fan since 1969.  That's before there was a Walt Disney World as its northern neighbor.  Generally,  I'm a meat & potatoes person but will indulge into the exotic once in a while.  This rare and remotely located Inn has been a favorite stop whenever I travel near its doors.  They'll serve the finest breakfasts, lunches and dinners found anywhere.  My first eggs benedict was consumed … (6 comments)

memories: Unconditional Love - Taught and Given by Our Departed NITRO - 09/13/13 02:04 AM
This week was sad enough recalling the tragedy of 9/11/2001.   Adding to the memory this year we had to make the decision to have our cat, NITRO put down.  He had developed a heart murmur which was discovered two years ago.  It wasn't until recently that its long term effects became noticeable.  We knew the inevitable would arrive despite our efforts to stave them off.  Wednesday was that fateful day.
NITRO came to us when retrieved from the engine compartment of a pick up truck which was being filled up next to us at a gas station.  His barely audible … (10 comments)

memories: Back to 1958 For Friday Fun Music - The Voxpoppers & The Last Drag - 08/30/13 05:31 AM
It took me almost 40 years to get a 45 single of this song and here it is in it's Music Video form for your enjoyment.  If you're a "thirty something" please don't bother listening.  The older crowd who know this one may wish to add some volume.  Back in the days when everything we did was wrong, play in the streets, out until dark every day, pre-seatbelts and the "padded dash.  Somehow we magically survived!

memories: It Was The Worst of Times & It Was The Best of Times, The Closing Gift That Keeps on Giving - 03/14/11 01:34 PM
First let's try to understand the home selling process as the worst of times.  Look at the primary word in the previous sentence, hopefully you've all focused on the word "HOME", that's what delineates our task whether we are on the Buyer side or the Seller side of the transaction.  We try to empathize with all parties as much as possible but it is a most difficult task at times.  The parents who raised their entire brood in style and now are forced to downsize into a tiny condominium.  The newly divorced barely able to survive their court costs let alone a comparably … (12 comments)

memories: I Could Not Figure Out Why the Office is So Quiet Today? HAPPY PRESIDENTS DAY! - 02/21/11 01:36 AM
The office is virtually silent today and I couldn't understand why!  Ah ha, I just realized that it's Presidents Day.  Now everyone knows what they've learned about our 44 Presidents from various sources and media review and analysis.  This education goes way back to the good times spent in our elementary schools even before there was a "President's Day".  I would much rather have celebrated each of their special birthdays as National Holidays over the years but how much more respect can we offer to these fine men than to have one all encompassing day to show our collective admiration and adulation.  Here are some … (13 comments)
