pets: Unconditional Love - Taught and Given by Our Departed NITRO - 09/13/13 02:04 AM
This week was sad enough recalling the tragedy of 9/11/2001.   Adding to the memory this year we had to make the decision to have our cat, NITRO put down.  He had developed a heart murmur which was discovered two years ago.  It wasn't until recently that its long term effects became noticeable.  We knew the inevitable would arrive despite our efforts to stave them off.  Wednesday was that fateful day.
NITRO came to us when retrieved from the engine compartment of a pick up truck which was being filled up next to us at a gas station.  His barely audible … (10 comments)

pets: Phriday Photo Phun - Always Pay Close Attention to Your Whereabouts! - 03/29/13 03:08 AM
About two or three years ago I went out to pick up a couple of sandwiches for lunch.  As I left the restaurant with keys in hand I walked across the parking lot to my spot and tried to open the car.  The darn thing wouldn't unlock.  I fumbled around a few more times and low and behold I see my car in the next space.  What are the odds of an identical color, make and model being in an almost identical place, maybe 10,000 to one.  Anyway, I sheepishly proceeded to my vehicle and escaped without undue embarassment.  That was … (8 comments)

pets: How Do You Determine When Your Home Has Finally Turned Into a Farm? - 08/29/11 10:14 AM
It all starts out innocently enough.  Maybe it was Easter of '08 and Uncle Bob bought you a  little bunny as a gift to take care of.  He knew you wouldn't have a problem with that because you had just moved into your 2+ ACRE SPREAD at the outskirts of town.
Then the little vegetable garden was staked out.  Not planted mind you but weeded and staked.  A few months later Sally brings over a couple of her husband's delectable tomatoes and you're back in the garden.  You sneak out to Home Depot or Lowes and grab a hoe or … (18 comments)

Funny thing about pets (and kids), they hate to get second billing so without further adieu here's the continuing saga from Wordless Wednesday - MESMERIZED!  The other half of the story.  I have been compelled to add this here today.  Usually she'll have a smile on and hopefully this attitude displayed here will quickly wane after it's posting.

There's Anthropology, which is the scientific study of the origin, behavior, the physical, social, and cultural development of humans.  Like a people watcher through the eons you might say.  Then we have the animals.  Zoology, the branch of biology that deals with animals and animal life, including the study of the structure, physiology, development, and classification of animals.  When the scientists stumbled upon this specimen they were brought back to the drawing board attempting to define a new inspiring sub-species.

Recommended training if your dog is even half the size of this well bred pooch!

pets: Pet Friendly Neighborhoods on the Wane, Why is That? - 12/17/10 04:53 AM
Why are the "pet-friendly" neighborhoods going by the wayside?  There are times when I feel horrible for pets only because of the actions their owners take when supposedly caring for them.  Unfortunately the pet will never know or understand why they're treated so poorly or even have the understanding that life could be better somewhere else.  They love unconditionally so there's little else they are concerned about other than the attention their masters show them.

It's mostly cats and dogs we're dealing with here but there are dozens of other household pets which need our help too.  To be fair, … (12 comments)
