physicality: Think Thin Thursday ~ Breaking It Down in Oh, So Many Ways

This week I had the pleasure of observing scores of people of all ages and body types at a school event enjoying and learning about various innovative and educational projects designed by kids. I believe there were approximately 400 persons there from age four to seventy plus years. If I critique them I saw skinny girls and boys, skinny teens and tweeners and skinny adults. There were average size healthy looking people, husky people, fat people and obese people. Since we're relegated to remain in our bodies while enjoying our time on Earth we have the opportunity to challenge ourselves as no other species does, through competition. Survival of the fittest takes on a different set of rules in civilized societies. The myriad of ways we measure our abilities is endless, however, recognizing the best of the best can be fleeting. Human beings are competitive by nature and we now live in a less gender oriented arena. If Marvel had any sense they would be calling to get this girl into their Spiderman lineup. It seems I've been calling myself a "former" athlete for way too long however it does not diminish the ability to recognize amazing physical feats when I see them. Take a few seconds out of your day and enjoy watching someone who really loves the game of baseball in America.
