“Florida is turning the corner with vaccinations outpacing infections,” Moody stated in a prepared release. “This is great news, but it would be a mistake to let your guard down now - we need to remain vigilant, not only in preventing the … (0 comments)

In litigation aimed at fraudulent business practices within the mobile telephone industry, the Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday accused T-Mobile of making hundreds of millions of dollars by scamming customers with unauthorized text message charges, according to FTC Consumer Protection Director Jessica Rich.
The FTC is seeking a court order to permanently bar T-Mobile from “cramming,” or charging cellphone customers for spam text messages that they did not request or have an interest in receiving.
In a process known as “third-party billing,” carriers such as T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon typically place charges on a consumer’s bill for services provided by another company.   In return, the phone company … (0 comments)

While the jury duty scam reported in April is still going strong, some Broward County residents are now being targeted by a new type of scam, Howard Forman, Broward County Clerk of the Court told Examiner on Wednesday.
In this particular scam, alleged victims are receiving a fake notice or summons to appear for a pretrial conference in Small Claims Court at a courthouse in Deerfield Beach.
The official “Summons/Notice to Appear for Pretrial Conference,” warns potential victims that they “are required to appear in person or by attorney at the Broward County Courthouse” on West Hillsboro Boulevard or be subject to a … (0 comments)
