real estate: Number of R.E. agents down dramatically

The recession took a toll on Arizonans employed in real estate during the past five years with the loss of nearly 17,000 agents.
A recent article in the AZ Republic states there are 35,864 real-estate agents with active licenses, down 52 percent from 2007 when there were 52,286 active agents, according to recent figures from the Arizona Department of Real Estate. And there were even more at the peak in 04-05.
The number of license holders is down 4 percent from last year.
An additional 19,245 agents have inactive licenses, meaning they are not employed by a broker and cannot conduct … (1 comments)

Inventory is low, investor purchasing is up and that leaves the everyday Joe and Jane out in the heat. (Yes I said heat not cold, it is Arizona afterall). Each year the Arizona Department of Education releases it's rankings of schools throughout Arizona. They have used a system of labels including: Excelling, Highly Performing, Performing Plus, Performing, Under Performing and Failing. The schools serving the Desert Ridge area have consistently achieved the Excelling status.
The ADE has just unveiled a new grading system for schools that will completely replace the old labels in 2013. The Cromford Report, the Phoenix market area's most well regarded statistical source showed the following basic data for September:
Sales volumes dropped in September while supply failed to decline for the first time since December 2010. To compensate we saw positive pricing movement for the first time since the second quarter.
Looking into the ARMLS data across all areas and types we see the following:
