home owners: HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS! - 06/01/11 11:37 AM

Growing up in The Bahamas; I have experienced my fair share of HURRICANES.

As children; we were happy to miss school, and excited when a storm threatened
the islands. We secretly admired the steel gray clouds; swollen and heavy with
rain. Screaming every time a thunder roared, or a lightning striked seemed very KoOL

As I got older I realized the seriousness of hurricanes, and how dangerous, and deadly they can be. My excitement turned to fear pretty quickly, and as a result; I helped my mom prepare for the storms instead of marveling at them.

One of the best reasons to live in Miami is the tropical balmy weather. During winter the average temperature is around 67 degrees. So on any day of the year you may find yourself indulging in boating, fishing, or water sports such as parasailing, jet-skiing or simply laying on … (0 comments)

home owners: Flood Insurance....."Are you covered?" - 06/01/10 05:35 AM

Even though it's not officially summer, preparation for the unpredictable weather that summer brings should be well on the way. In the southeast it's important to prepare for the possibility of tropical storms and hurricanes that are associated with this time of year. Floods are one of the most common natural disasters in the United States and can occur in non coastal communities.
As a homeowner you should check the validity and strength of your home insurance coverage, take time to read the fine print and familiarize yourself with your insurance plan and what you're actually covered for. The … (2 comments)

home owners: FHA LOANS- THE PERFECT FIT? - 05/22/10 04:28 PM
Recently we've been seeing and reading about the housing market slowly making a comeback; that is, more real estate transactions are being closed now than they did a year ago.
The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) plays a key role in the "turn around" we're currently experiencing. FHA really isn't a type of loan, it's actually insured loans that the Federal Housing Administration has agreed to reimburse the lender for financial losses, if the borrower default on the loan.
For buyers that are unable to qualify for conventional loans, FHA mortgages are more attractive, and the terms of the loan are more flexible.  These … (6 comments)

home owners: NACA......... Helping Buyers & Current Homeowners - 04/15/10 05:12 AM
Recently I blogged about using Neighborhood Assistance Programs to help homebuyers with the purchase of a house, and it couldn't have been more timely. NACA aka Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, is currently hosting it's "Save the Dream Tour" and it kicks off today on Miami Beach, FL. It will run for 5 continuous days; ending on Monday April 19th. Other cities are also lined up for the tour.
This tour is geared toward "At Risk" homeowners, and people that are interested in home ownership. I love that NACA provides this outlet that focuses not only on helping current homeowners, and potential homebuyers, … (5 comments)
