mudslide: Mudslides: who is responsible?

We live in what is affectionatley referred to as the Pacific "Wet" Coast because we live on the edge of a rainforest. You might say that we are, "actively rained" upon; more than many can sustain (thank goodness; otherwise we'd be overpopulated- *lol*).
As a result of this and the mountainous topography of the area, we inevitably experience mudslides, and especially where more severe slopes have been cleared for homes. Like a Skier at Whistler Mountain (don't forget the 2010 Vancouver Olympics), the rain moves faster down a cleared hill and can wash-out obstacles in its way. I'd like to hear about any stories where this (2 comments)
