Yesterday my son and I got the opportunity to visit the Horry-Georgetown Home Builders Association Green Building Expo at the Myrtle Beach Convention center. This was the first green building expo of its kind here in Myrtle Beach. The Rotary Foundation and it's members do such a huge amount of good world wide, but I would like to take a moment to share some of the "small" local happenings here in Myrtle Beach. Thanks to the donations of fellow local Rotarians, last week I was given the opportunity to go to the Carolina Forest Elementary school here in Myrtle Beach and hand to every third grader their own personal dictionary and bookmark for them to keep. I read an article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel a couple weeks ago and it made me realize how common sense had escaped me. Please see the following link for the whole article, "Caution: A booster seat can injure you" by Raquel Rutledge. Now I have two young children that use booster seats and when they were babies I went to the safety checks provided by the local police station and made sure my seats were installed properly and always read the instructions when I bought new seats, but HELLO I forgot a major no no!
