seniors: Using Reverse Mortgages in Long Term Care Planning - 04/07/11 06:15 AM
I wear several hats.  One of them is a SRES Realtor (in fact I teach the course), one as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), one in the Senior Market, and one specializing in Long Term Care (LTC) and Long Term Care insurance (LTCI).  I make the distinction because they are different.
I belong to the Corporation for Long Term Care (CLTC) which is primarily for CFPs that sell LTCI, and they just did a webinar for members entitled "Using Reverse Mortgages in Long-Term Care Plans."  It is a great presentation with some new ideas.  After watching it, I realize that this … (1 comments)

seniors: Sandwich Generation Struggles Financially... - 12/09/10 04:43 AM
Baby boomers often find themselves caring for their aging parents while also supporting their children- a responsibility that is hitting the Sandwich Generation hard financially.  A study conducted earlier this year by reverse mortgage retailer Generation Mortgage Company and polling firm Zogby International found that 64 percent of those supporting parents and children describe their financial situation as negative.  Additional findings that shed light on the financial situation of these boomers include:
· 23 percent of those polled have lost a job recently, and an additional 24 percent have taken a cut in pay or benefits
· 17 percent have failed … (2 comments)

seniors: Article that focuses on local agency that helps seniors - 08/13/10 04:13 AM
OnLok Lifeways is a local agency that helps seniors.  The article gives the details, but I'm finding that this resource is under the radar in our area and people not only don't take advantage of them, but don't even know about them.  If you are working with Seniors and are local in the Bay area, please check them out.
My June monthly seminar was a tour of their facility.
