A Hamburger steeped in atmosphere and history…..
 
When I moved to Sarasota in 1984 one of the first places I was introduced to by the locals was a hamburger joint called “Duffy’s Tavern.” It was right across the street from the Manatee Public beach in a little shack with no air-conditioning and a few tables.  The hamburgers were cooked in front of you, piled with grilled onions and served with icy cold mugs of beer to keep you cool.  Sitting next to locals and tourists alike, it was easy to start up conversations and learn about the history of … (2 comments)

Late bookers for vacation rentals in our area are in for a rude awakening.  After years of being able to find suitable lodgings on short notice, there is no room at the inn.  Following world-wide exposure of Siesta Key’s Beach as being rated the number one in the country, the rates have gone higher and the availability is almost non-existent on the island.  One of my potential buyers is now having to rent a home east of I-75, almost a 45 minute ride to the beach because he waited too long to lock in a beach property.  Occupancy in … (0 comments)
