memories: A Touching Way to Honor the Loss of Lives of 9/11

Every year I drive down the entire 10 miles of Gulf of Mexico Drive on Longboat Key on September 11. There are 2,977 American Flags planted on the side of the road, one for each of the souls who lost their lives on this day. The Public Works Department puts them out the day before and will remove them tomorrow, reminding us of how quickly the life we take for granted can be changed, but for the brief time that they wave, all of us are reminded of the importance of never forgetting this day.
