military: Hunter Pointe's lovely yards ~ post 1 of many to come! - 12/14/11 06:17 PM

This week, I decided I was going to find my favorite landscaping job (that I might like to copy lol) in Hunter Pointe and do a picture post dedicated to it.  Well, here it is.  I absolutely love the bricking and what they did with the front yard.  I have no clue what they did to the back, but it probably looks great, as well.  Congrats to 1813 Cougar Circle ~ Yard of the Week!

military: The Christmas Spirit is alive and well in my community! - 12/12/11 11:36 PM
I love this time of year ~ and I love a good, bright display of Christmas lights.  These 2 homes took a lot of time and effort into making their displays colorful and fun, much the way that Clark did in "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" (one of my all time favorite movies)!  I am so glad to get to share them with my friends here at ActiveRain.

military: First-Time Home Buyers: Beginning the home search! - 09/16/11 12:43 PM
The next step after pre-qualifying your new buyer client is to begin the home search within their projected price range.  Obviously, the bigger the city you live in, the more options the buyer has for choosing their first home.  However, when you are in a smaller area (such as Altus & Altus AFB, Oklahoma), you learn to get creative and show the buyers everything there is to offer, and even some that are slightly out of their range (negotiating comes into play!).  Sometimes, I show upwards of 20 houses in a single day just trying to give the buyers every viable … (1 comments)

military: BAH and mortgages: The pros of buying a home! - 09/11/11 05:47 AM

Today, let's talk BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) pay and how it affects a mortgage payment for our Military families.  Many families (and even single people) find it a better deal for them to buy than for all their BAH to go toward living on base.  As a Realtor here in Altus, I am seeing more and more Air Force families moving here turn to buying instead of renting or living in base housing.

For example, an E-5 (SSgt) at Altus AFB will get $822/mo for BAH.  For about $800/mo, you can purchase a home that costs … (3 comments)

military: Exciting happenings in Altus Real Estate! - 09/06/11 10:34 AM
With the coming of the Fall season, comes new and exciting happenings in our local Real Estate market here in Altus, OK.  Even though home prices are still down slightly from last year, the interest rates are phenomenal and now is a wonderful time for those who are "on the fence" about buying to jump in and purchase a wonderful house!
There is a lot of building that is currently going on in the Hunter Pointe Addition of Altus, as well as a good selection of existing homes in Hunter Pointe and any other area of Altus, OK that you might … (0 comments)

military: Record breaking temps: Are they keeping our potential buyers inside? - 08/07/11 01:53 PM
Here in Oklahoma, we have now had almost 70 days of 100+ degree temperatures now.  It has been hot, dry, and miserable, to say the least.  I've also started to wonder if my buyers have not slowed their pace a bit to avoid getting out and looking in this weather.  Just an observation . . .
I am hoping the cooler fall temperatures that are coming will bring on an abundance of people who are ready to buy houses.  I am thinking of teaching a 1st time home buyer's class in September or early October.  I think it would be informative, … (1 comments)
