texas football: COLLEGE FOOTBALL AND THE LONGHORNS

The season started off very poor for the Longhorns. A loss to BYU followed with a Loss to MSU. This weekend however the Longhorns will play Oklahoma State. Both teams are undefeated in conference. Texas has won 6 conference games in a row including a decisive victory over rival Oklahoma University Sooners. The pathway to a conference Championship for Texas will include OSU, Texas Tech and number 5 Baylor. It is always about this time of year that I really miss football season. In Texas football is huge. High school football can draw bigger crowds than many Collegiate games played across the US each year. Friday night lights is the practice of thousands. I love it all. High school football, college and the NFL! In central Texas there are some real powerhouse High school football teams. Lake Travis, Cedar Park, Georgetown. It will be a fun year of football. This was my seat last Wednesday at the final pre-season game for the Dallas Cowboys. Just a few miles up the road in the city of Allen Texas work has been completed on a 60 million dollar High School football stadium for the Allen Eagles. Before you get too upset on that kind of expenditure I need to let you know that 85% of those funds were raised privately. Football is a religion in Texas.

Whatever football teams you root for this is an exciting time! The smell of fresh cut grass, the sound of the crack of shoulder pads, marching bands and hotdogs. I am a football fan! From pop warner to pro football, I love it all. Our Stony Point High School football team started the year with a big win over San Antonios Alamo Hights high school 29-0. It looks like a promising year. The Cowboys have a new stadium and I have tickets to one game in October. Jason is jealous. Are YOU ready for some football?
