Interesting Neighbors on the Washougal River! Check out these beatiful Canadian Geese.......o.k. one of them is half missing in the first picture. He is looking for Salmon or Steelhead or Trout fingerlings. Lol, this makes him an "unwelcome" competition for the fishermen around here. Aren't they beautiful? They come to visit every spring.

Our home and front yard on the Washougal River isn't very big, but it's paradise to me. It's not expensively landscaped but it holds tons of fond memories. We invite our friends and family over on sunny days and everyone has a good time well into the evening when we gather to talk around our little fire pit. The whimsical yellow and green bench you see in the picture was made by my husband Mike. He can build just about anything.

Wanna Live Next Door to the Salmon and Steelhead? Buy a Waterfront Property!Make up any fish story you like, the fish don't mind! Washougal River is noted for its Salmon and Steelhead runs. You have to be a GOOD fisherman or woman to catch them here though. There are different times of fish runs and lots of rapids and the river bed is made up of just rocks, so you will lose many lures until you become proficient in Washougal River Fishing! Washougal, WA is a quaint little town. It's a "sister" city to Camas, WA which used to be supported in a big way by Crown Zellerback paper mill, which is now known as Georgia Pacific. Washougal has a friendly home-town rivalry between the two football and basketball teams at the high school level. There's always something to do here in Washougal if you like to get outdoors. There are plenty of hiking opportunities, the famous motorcross track, dog parks, the Columbia River, Kayaking, Fishing on the Washougal River ....come and get to know us! Crawfish on the Washougal River?? YEP...there are crawfish and they are big enough to cook up for a crowd.
Check out this big crawfish, fresh from the river! I'm a "River Girl!" We live on the river side near the six mile marker!!
Most people only think of the Washougal River as swimming, kayaking, fishing, floating and rafting and such. But the river has many moods and many surprises!

What I Love About Summer on the Washougal River!
It's summer!!! I love summer here on the Washougal River! It seems that it will always be sunny! So much to do! It's time to take out the picnic tables and umbrellas, the big "ski-do's", invite the family and friends over! Sometimes I just love sneaking down to the waterfront and just sitting on the rocks and gazing up and down the river. Very often I'll see bald eagles streaking by. You've gotta drive up and see the winter time tropical blue waters of the Washougal River in Washington state....that's my favorite part of living on the Washougal River. As we are driving along the winding river road, the sun shines on the tumbling waters. The middle of the flowing river is a soft, muted turqouise. The white caps of the rapids are white and lacey. But, closer to the edge of the banks of the river...you can see every pebble straight down to the sandy, rocky bottom. It is crystal clear. Wow, Surprise for us all! Parking on the three mile marker on the Washougal River Rd just got listed as "Discover Pass Parking Permit" needed to park there! The Discover Park card can be purchased at the Washington State Fish and Game Department online or over in Orchards, WA. I know a lot of people are going to be mad about the Discover Pass card needed to park there. The three mile marker is a very popular swimming spot on the Washougal River. Both Cougar Creek and old Cottrell Dam abutement are near the five mile marker on the Washougal River. Both areas are great fishing, inner tubing, and kayaking areas. The narrow between the two rock walls makes up the five mile marker and the best dang fishing spot on the Washougal River! It's easy to tell when the salmon are running because at this five mile marker... trucks and their respective fishermen and women are lining the road. My granddaughter, Morgan Urell is living proof that it's fun to snorkel in the Washougal River. She has exceled at it this summer. She snorkels and brings us lots of surprises and pretty rocks. She catches little fish and crawdads and explores the river bottom. (Morgan is so pretty...this picture certainly doesn't do her justice!! And Morgan is goofy and fun too.)

I'm using my Talking House units this weekend for my Washougal River Open houses. I haven't used them much since the little riders started showing up on the bottom of the realty sale signs. Talking House seems to have gone out of popularity. But this weekend is the Washougal MX weekend and there will be "1,000's" of cars passing by my listing. Washougal's famous Motor Cross is happening this weekend, July 23-25th, 2010. This will be a FABULOUS time to do an open house for my clients! There are "thousands" of cars, trucks, "Toy Haulers," campers, going up the Washougal River Road. There has to be special accomodations for all the traffic, there are changes in direction and accomodation for emergency vehicles-god forbid that a Motor Cross driver will be injured this usually fun-filled weekend!
