Paying It Forward In The Rain - Merry Christmas Everyone! We have received many friendly greetings here in the Rain from our friends and we wanted to return the greetings and also Pay It Forward to the new friends we are about to meet on Active Rain in 2011. Happy Holidays vs. Merry Christmas - With a Twist We have always been firm supporters of saying "Merry Christmas". It's our Christian holiday we are celebrating, so why not "Merry Christmas". We were talking to a friend who stated as she paid here bill in one of the larger department stores the clerk wished her "Happy Holidays", she asked "why are you not wishing customers a Merry Christmas", her reply was that it was the companies policy... they didn't want to offend anyone. Christians around the world have been celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ for over 2000 years now. The day set for celebrating is December 25th. Usually starting around the first of December people would say their goodbyes with a Merry Christmas. In recent years someone thought it unfair for other religions to say Merry Christmas and thought that everyone should be included and that Happy Holidays would be more appropriate.
