One month ago today, June 11, 2010 it all started.  64 matches were scheduled between 32 nations, looking for 1 champion.

World Cup 2010 -  3rd Place Winner Germany

Uruguay and Germany gave us exactly what we were looking for.  Lots of action despite the pouring rain.  It looked like Uruguay was going to take the third place finish, but Germany fought back to out score them 3 - 2. Uruguay played strong throughout the series and can go home holding their heads high... well done Uruguay. Congratulations Germany, you played hard and came back from being down 2 - 1.

This is what the field looked like after the 62nd match was played. Uruguay wanted to go fishing and Germany thought they would try their hand at golf.
 

Now wait a minute, we need a 3rd place winner.  So we are going to have Game 63 played today, Saturday July 10, 2010 at 2:30 pm at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Game 62 will be between Germany and Spain played at Moses Mabhida  Stadium (Durban) at 2:30 pm EST with a capacity for the World Cup of 70,000.The Netherlands defeated Uruguay 3 -2 and take the first position in the final World Cup 2010 match.  The eyes of the world will be watching to see who they will play, Germany or Spain.

The Dutchmen (Netherland) have shown the world one of life's lessons.  If you want something bad enough and work hard to get it, you will.  They entered the first Quarter Final game as the underdogs against Brazil the 5 time World Cup champions.  They played hard and would not give up and ended up defeating Brazil 2 - 1.
Uruguay and Ghana could not score a goal in regulation time and went to the shootout.  Uruguay out scored Ghana 4 - 2.

After a couple of days of rest, time for all the bruises to heal we have reached Day 20 of World Cup 2010 and have two days of "Quarter Finals" ahead of us.  Japan and Portugal have left for home.

Serbia defeated Germany 1 - 0, United States fought back to tie Slovenia 2 - 2, and England and Algeria didn't make the scoreboard in their 0 - 0 match.Saturday June 19, 2010 World Cup 2010 enters Day 9.
Today the 24th match will be played reaching the half way mark of the 48 matches in Round 1.  So far Argentina is the only team to have two wins giving them 6 points and the lead.
