Fannie Mae said its gross mortgage portfolio fell at a compound annualized rate of 15.2% in February, while the government-sponsored enterprise's entire book of business fell 0.7%. The delinquency rate in Fannie's conventional single-family segment fell three basis points in January to 4.45%, while the multifamily serious-delinquency rate fell two basis points, hitting 0.69% in January, the most recent month on record.
Comparatively, Freddie Mac noted last week that the seriously delinquent rate of single-family mortgages fell to 3.78% in February, while the multifamily delinquency rate increased to 0.36% in February. The decline in Fannie's mortgage portfolio is occurring as (1 comments)

The Treasury Department launched TARP in October 2008 to buy up troubled assets and preferred stock of the nation's largest and most exposed financial institutions. Foreclosure time lines and an abundance of distressed home sales are causing wide fluctuations in shadow inventory across the country. The National Association of Realtors released state-by-state data on shadow inventory Monday, calculating the data in relation to distressed property sales. On the whole, Capital Economics estimates there are 5.3 million homes in limbo between foreclosure and the sales market. Standard & Poor's states it could take up to 49 months to clear the shadow inventory books. When will the asset management companies let all these houses finally hit the market? We have been hearing for the past 3 years the next wave is coming? but when? With all the vacant houses out there and not being marketed yet does anyone know the truth? Lets get some insight and see what everyone has to say. (1 comments)

The government wants to freeze the foreclosures throughout the united states. Why would you freeze anything that was caused from the borrower not paying the mortgage in the first place. Is it now legal to not pay on your mortgage and you face no consequences?? Where do we go from here is water and gas free next!!!!
