training: Frustrated Short Sales! - 03/26/09 12:03 PM
Okay, someone’s lying. I’m not sure where the lie started, but it’s being circulated like a wildfire with no end in sight! Maybe “lie” is too strong a word. Let me rephrase that: Someone out there started a rumor that has caught on faster than the rumor of Death by Pop Rocks and Coke!
Last I heard we were in a recession. Is this Truth? YES!
Last I heard, the band Wings was better than the Beatles. Is this Truth? NO!
Last I heard the Real Estate Market was HORRIBLE! Is this Truth? MAYBE…
It really does depend what side of … (0 comments)

training: The grass is ALWAYS greener??? - 01/14/09 09:01 AM
We all know that famous quote…and we all also know the truth of it.

In our personal lives, we think, “if only my partner would….then I would be happy”. “If I only made more money…then I’d be happy”. If I worked for another company, THEN I’d be happy”. But the truth of it is: WE WOULDN’T…not always anyway!
Why?
Because no matter where you go, what house you upgrade to, what spouse you leave behind, there is always a common denominator…YOU!
People as a whole are categorized into two factions:
The glass is half full or the glass is … (0 comments)

training: Your 10 Steps to Real Estate Success.... - 10/20/08 11:51 AM
Here at Seven Gables, if you are involved in our Journey to Mastery Program, you will quickly learn that while the program itself gives you the tools you need to be successful in your Real Estate Career, it’s the IMPLEMENTATION of the program that really makes it work!
You may be thinking to yourself, “That’s a No Brainer”…except that you forget one thing….we tend to get in the way of ourselves!
We set ourselves up to succeed and to fail. Like it or not, it is ultimately on US to move forward and tweak what isn’t working, and duplicate what is!

training: Testimonial from Joseph Saldana - 10/14/08 08:28 AM
Just so you know...I LOVE WHAT I DO AND HERE'S WHY!  I asked our Agents to send me testimonials of their experience in Real Estate, and with us at Seven Gables.  I have several emails, but chose to share this one with you all.  I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did:
Since my start in the Real Estate industry in 2004, I have bounced to 5 different offices. I have been exposed to many different training programs, and concepts of how to get business. I would close a random transaction and think I was in business. I … (2 comments)

training: "I'm gonna make you an offer you can't refuse" - 09/15/08 12:31 PM
Ok, famous line from a classic movie...

The Godfather! I LOVE this movie! I have owned the trilogy forever!
Last Thursday evening, I was fortunate enough to get food poisoning! I don't know if it was the burger or the Hef I ordered, but there I was, knee deep in what can only be described as "Morning Sickness goes 10 rounds with Jack Dempsey".
I was SO SICK!
Why do I bring this up...because I was so sick, I had to stay home.
Recovering is never fun with any illness, but it does help once you can actually hold water, … (0 comments)

training: It's all about your style~ - 08/26/08 12:53 PM
I received a phone call today from a young man very interested in becoming a Realtor. He said HE knew people that were going to be buying and selling million dollar plus homes.
In his words..."THAT'S the kind of clientele I want to work with!"
Luxury Home Sales is what Seven Gables is KNOWN for, and everyone that has ever heard of Seven Gables KNOWS this is what sets us apart from other companies. We have built our reputation on being "The Nordstrom's" of Real Estate.
Something that I want to elaborate on further though is that we have … (0 comments)

training: Fire Sale! Everything priced to go! - 08/07/08 06:48 AM
That seems to be our Market Theme Song! It's a Buyers Market...No! It's a Sellers Market!
The truth is IT'S A REAL ESTATE MARKET...and this means that everyday, there are people BUYING AND SELLING Real Estate.
Some are buying their first home. Others are looking for investment properties. There are people who HAVE to sell because of relocation, or their house just got too big...whatever the reason they are active in Real Estate. So what's the problem? Why are people sitting on the fence? Should we as Real Estate agents have this on our yard signs:

Just curious! … (0 comments)

training: Does it Really Matter?? - 07/07/08 05:22 AM
So, I got my hair cut this weekend…why is this enough for me to post a blog about it? Because as I was drying my hair this morning, I realized I HATED IT!
I have always been pretty experimental with my hair. I’ve had it short, long, blonde, red, streaked and at one point in my life, I even had it purple! You would think that with someone who is so unafraid of trying new things, my hair cut this weekend wouldn’t be a big deal. It’s just hair, right? WRONG!
The gal that has always done my hair … (0 comments)

training: Crystal Ball? - 06/20/08 11:57 AM
I recently sent my blog link to a soon to be Realtor, Rosemary. This was her response:
"Wow those stats are scary, and pretty intimidating. I think that high rate of failure is due in large part to newcomers expecting to make too much money but not wanting to do the work that goes with it. I'm so excited to NOT become one of those statistics!"
How does Rosemary KNOW that she won't become one of those statistics? Does she have a crystal ball?

She KNOWS she won't be one of those statistics because she has interviewed … (2 comments)

training: What are the odds?? - 06/12/08 12:56 PM
I'm going to tell you a little bit about myself. I think it will help shed some light on what I'm about to post...
I've been a licensed Realtor for the past 8 years, and I've been working at Seven Gables Real Estate for the last three years. I joined Seven Gables right when they were going to implement the Journey to Mastery ™program. At first, I opted out, even when Doug Yeaman, the author of JTM™ told me that I would have AHA! moments!

Due to health issues with a family member, I took a job in wholesale … (4 comments)

training: Are you Frustrated Yet??? - 05/28/08 12:54 PM
Were you promised coaching, training, leads, and a great commission split, only to discover that being a Realtor actually meant working in Real Estate?
Was there any talk in your training sessions about personal responsibility? How about a class designed to break through barriers...you know what those are...the things WE create to keep us stuck!
What were you told about time management? Buy a day planner, and lots of post it notes, since that seems to be the Realtors contact management system of choice!? Was there any mention of 1/3, 1/3, 1/3??
I'm sure you were told to … (2 comments)

training: Three year vet….and still going strong??? - 05/07/08 05:30 AM
We’ve been talking about the three year vet and how they made it past the dreaded “Two year fall out”.
Let’s see where they are now:
Most have learned to not waste money on frivolous marketing schemes, take over priced listings, and stay in constant contact with their past clients.
When I asked them how their careers were going, the over all response was: “It’s good, more or less. It could always be better”.
Notice they said “more or less”.
So I ask another question: What does better mean to you”
Most said “More Consistency” … (0 comments)

training: I want to be a Realtor...Now What (FINALE) - 04/14/08 02:29 PM
So much time, money and energy was wasted in the very beginning of your Real Estate Career, and yet you refuse to give up!  You took a part time job to help you pay your bills.  You cut back on your cable, in fact, you gave up cable!  No more internet at home either...that costs too much!  You've cut back on your cell phone bill as well, and you eat at home more and pack lunches for the kids....you're going to do WHATEVER you need to do so that you can stay in Real Estate!

EXCEPT......
1. You're not going to … (0 comments)

training: I want to be a Realtor...Now What (part 2) - 04/08/08 10:24 AM
So!  A multitude of people ran out and got their Real Estate License, having been convinced by the media and friends they were going to be millionaires by the end of the year.
They got their License through a big name company that sponsors "newbies".  At career night, they have the top selling agent in their market talk about "I went from living in my car, to 3 million dollars in just 6 months".  HOOK LINE AND SINKER!  They sign up, and in their minds, start spending money on great vacations, nice cars, and top of the line suits.  But then reality … (2 comments)

training: I want to be a Realtor...Now What?? - 04/04/08 07:31 AM
As a Recruiter for Seven Gables Real Estate, and an active Realtor for the past 8 years, I have never encountered what I am coming across these days.  In my search for agents who are struggling in their career, I have been blown away by how many people were licensed in December of 2006 and are now out of the business!
Yes, I know...."It's about time to get rid of those people who are only working in Real Estate Part time" or another one I hear often is "I'm glad they're leaving the market!  They would cut their commissions and make me work twice as hard … (4 comments)
