I attended the foreclosure for the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Kapalua Bay today, which took place today on the courthouse steps in Honolulu. With just two bidders, the opening bid was Ritz Carlton Development, with an opening bid of $52 million. The second and highest bid was Island Acquisitions, with a bid of $55 million. Last night Chris Evert mingled and talked with members of the Kapalua Cluband at the Kapalua Beach Club. Located on the grounds of the Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, Kapalua, this sweet little spot provided an intimate gathering place for a Q&A session with the tennis great. I was impressed with her humor and candor as she fielded questions that ranged from her take on current players, fame, nutrition, and legends tournaments. It was announced to Kapalua Club today, that the Kapalua Spa and the new Beach Club at the Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, Kapalua Bay will both be open to members on July 3, 2009. One of the great benefits of membership in the Kapalua Club is special access to resort amenities and services. The Kapalua Spa offers a wide range of treatments and classes. The Realtor's Association of Maui has posted its May 2009 statistics. While activity has been slow overall for year to date over last year, it does seem like there has been an increase in activity in the Kapalua Resort, with five new escrows. The activity focused largely at the Golf Villas, which reflects the lower price range of the Kapalua Resort Market. A 1-bedroom listed at $599,000 is now pending, as are two 2-bedroom listings at $600,000 and $650,000. It was a gorgeous day today, so I thought I'd take a little time to stop by the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Kapalua Bay. Strolling through the lobby, the view overlooks beautifully landscaped grounds, framing the channel between Molokai and Lanai. The sound of waterfalls surround, as you make your way to a lagoon like pool setting. This time, I had my camera handy. I stopped by one of my favorite locations, 2503, which has stunning coastal and sunset views overlooking the pool area (pictured left). The 28th Annual Kapalua Wine & Food Festival celebrates "Carnival" with a four day extravaganza of some of the world's best food and wine. On Monday, I had the opportunity to make a site visit to the Kapalua Resort's newest community, the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Kapalua Bay. Construction is nearing completion, and it is estimated that this new resort will open on May 31, 2009. Approximately 40% sold out, this unique property consists of 84 whole ownership residences and 62 fractional Ritz-Carlton Club residences. Residences range from $3,885,000 to $9,395,000.
