I’m often asked what the Ritz-Carlton Club® and Residences, Kapalua Bay are like. So on a beautiful day here in Kapalua, I took a walk through the property and photograph the grounds and the model villa. I posted a video tour on YouTube, set to music by a childhood friend, Grammy award winning musician, Jeff Peterson. (I suppose this is as good a time as any to apologize to him for locking him and his brother in a closet when we were three). The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Kapalua Bay are Maui's newest luxury real estate development. Overlooking Kapalua Bay, and situated on 21 oceanfront acres in the resort, this is one of the most beautiful locations in the islands. The Maui News is reporting today that Maui Land and Pineapple and its partners have found funding to replace Lehman Brother's position as a lender for The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Kapalua Bay. After news surfaced that Lehman Brothers had declared bankruptcy back in September, the partnership financed the construction of the project themselves. Construction continued without substantial delays, and sales of both the whole ownership residences and the fractional residences continued. During this time the partnership sought replacement financing, which is now subject to Bankruptcy Court confirmation (thought to be at the end of January). The first two weeks of December are often a slow time for the Maui real estate market, and in turn the Kapalua Resort market, as our tourism tends to dip during this part of the year before we begin our busy season around the holidays and the new year. Driving through the Kapalua Resort, it's hard not to notice the transformation taking place. There's the new town center, with Sansei and La Perle, the renovated Honolua Store, and the Adventure Center. Blue flags are flying at every light post, with pictures of the LPGA professionals that will compete next week at our first annual Kapalua LPGA Classic. This tournament will be played at the Kapalua Resort's Bay Course. There's no place on earth like Kapalua Bay. Imagine: a perfect white sand beach, looking out across the ocean to the islands of Molokai and Lanai. It's no wonder that Kapalua Bay has been named America's Best Beach by such publications as Conde Naste and the Travel Channel.
