The Big Book Nook in Pine Knoll Shores
I absolutely LOVE books! I also LOVE recycling! The Big Book Nook, ran by a wonderful group of volunteers for Friends of the Library - Bogue Banks, is the newest and one of the greatest additions (in my opinion) to Pine Knoll Shores. I can buy great books, support a great cause, and it's recycling at the same time.
It may not look like much from the photo to the left, but when I walked through the door this morning.... I was totally smitten.

As I was flipping through the pages of the latest edition of "Coastal Living" magazine, I was thrilled to see the town of Pine Knoll Shores featured in "21 Best Beach Vacations".
While it is a wonderful place to visit, it's an even better place to live. "Coastal Living" refers to our area as North Carolina's best-kept beach secret and refers to Pine Knoll Shores as a strip of fine white sand that's home to the North Carolina Aquarium. On Monday, I had the pleasure of spending the day with my son! As we drove to the NC Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores, he noticed the American Flags EVERYWHERE! It was the perfect opportunity to share with him what Memorial Day means. It is much more than a day at the beach, a family cookout, and an opportunity to miss school! Yesterday morning, I had the pleasure of attending the Tree City USA Presentation in Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina. Not only was it a special moment for the town, it was an absolutely gorgeous day! Brian Swanson of the Forestry Division, presented the Town with the Tree City USA Award. On Saturday, April 7, 2012, The Town of Pine Knoll Shores will be filled with fun. The Easter Bunny always finds his way to Brock Basin (located on the sound off Oakleaf Drive) to hide hundreds of eggs for the kids to find. As my family and I were walking to the beach, my six year old was stopping to read each and every sign (he's learning to read), and one sign in particular caught his eye at the outdoor shower. It was a great opportunity to explain to him the importance of water conservation. He had a hard time grasping the concept while looking out at the Atlantic Ocean, but I think he is starting to "Get It". When Comparing closed listings from January 2010 (3 units) vs. January 2011 (6 units), Sales are up 100%. The number of Pending Sales has also increased 100% year over year comparison. While there are still a great number of listings currently available, that number has dropped a small amount (2%) over the previous year.
The average sales price in January 2011 was $405,700 (down 19.93% from 2010), and the average List Price in January 2011 was $578,566 (down 1.13%).

I have written and said hundreds of times that I hate open houses. They just don't seem to work well in our area...No matter what we do. Marketing the Open house online, in the paper, placing signs all over the place, notifying the neighbors...Never works! But, I currently have a listing at 119 Walnut Circle in Pine Knoll Shores, and the Seller requested that I hold a Broker Open. What? I don't do open houses!!!! Because of the community's care for the environment, Pine Knoll Shores was designated as a Tree City in 2000. To celebrate our ten year anniversary, The town of Pine Knoll Shores will be holding it's first ever Tree City Fair at Pine Knoll Shores Town Hall, on April 24th, 2010 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
