austin real estate: A FRIDAY THE 13TH LISTING--BEWARE A SCARY TALE! - 03/07/17 01:40 PM
I DON'T THINK I'M A SUPERSTITIOUS PERSON, but everyday superstitions do cause me to pause.  I won't walk under a ladder or let a black cat cross in front of me if at all possible.

So when a listing of mine became ready to put on the market on Friday the 13th I did think about and it and discuss it with my client.  We both decided it wasn't a big deal, and wanted to be on the market that weekend.

The house went quickly under contract!  But just a short few days later...

The House Flooded...not just a small leak, a full blown, whole house … (6 comments)

austin real estate: The Power of Perseverance--Lessons Learned at the Nixon Library - 12/27/16 05:31 AM
My father has been taking his now 14 year old grandson, my nephew, to presidential museums.  His goal is to see all of them together and they only have 5 left to go!  My nephew is a history buff and loves spending this time with his Papa.  I've not been to very many of these incredible sanctums of history but on our family holiday trip to CA I went along.

Our initial voyage was to Nixon. This would have been my first president as I was born in 1969.  My father was very active in Republican politics at the time as a Nixon supporter and delegate to the … (6 comments)

austin real estate: New Options for Millennial Home Buying - 11/18/16 05:41 AM
Millennials have been slower to purchase homes than previous generations; in fact the home ownership rate dropped to 62.9% in the 2nd quarter of this year— the lowest in more than 50 years. But according to an article I recently read on CNBC.com:

"62% of millennials are renting or living with roommates but almost 90% want to be homeowners"

There are several reasons floated for this phenomenon:
The 2008 housing bubble burst hurt millenials' parents very hard (albeit most temporarily); thus making their children more skeptical about housing as a good investment; Since the economy was bust at that time many millennials graduated, they had a much … (8 comments)

austin real estate: 827 Rays Grand Opening--"AMYuse-Bouche" #1 - 08/28/16 01:22 AM
827 Ray's--Amazing Party with even more amazing food!

Last night my husband and I had the honor of attending the Grand Opening of 827 Ray's located in Hudson Bend, Austin, TX.

The celebration was top notch and the turn out was even better with what seemed the whole community and beyond in attendance.

This gorgeous restaurant located right on RR 620, a stones throw from the temporarily shuttered Hudson's on the Bend, is exactly what our small community craved....a new, delectable dining experience.  Ever since the "Coming Soon 827 Ray's" sign appeared on the doors of the old Hill Country Pasta House I have … (3 comments)

austin real estate: New to Active Rain.... - 08/18/16 12:22 PM
I've always been intrigued with blogs and especially with those who write them.  The commitment, not to mention how open people are with their lives.  It is a truly authentic way to lead your life and your business.
I've decided to start a blog after getting an immersion one afternoon on Active Rain.  I was entranced with the industry information, sharing and community building that happens in this space.  I also spent time listening to the Active Rain pod casts and I now believe it can be a credible way to build your business. Not to mention Austin Mega Realtor Dorie Dillard has a great blog here … (63 comments)
