I have a listing that due to some of the things he has in his home for his business he wants to be present for all showings, so buyers agents are instructed to call him direct for appointments.  But I guess one too many "appointments" haven't shown up and he'd had enough and called to tell me they're taking the home off the market.
After a lot of questioning, soothing, and problem solving, I was able to calm him down and we've made a few changes in the showing instructions and we're going to give it a try for a few … (8 comments)

How's YOUR follow up system?
We've all heard it for years, the key is in the follow up... most sales are made after the umpteenth follow up... follow up is critical... got the picture?
Well, I agree 110%.  But I practice only about 50%.  I know that is the weakest part of my business and I am working on improving that part. We get busy and all of a sudden that post-it note on our desk is 2 weeks old and we wonder whether it's too late to even bother calling...

Do you believe that's actually what someone said about me?!?!? I couldn't believe my ears when I heard that, I started laughing uncontrollably!

Remember last week when I wrote in my Commandments that "Thou Shalt be Truthful, Even When It Hurts?"
Well, last week I followed my own advice. Here's what happened:
Last Sunday, I was supposed to meet a client at his house in Longwood while he was in town. My Outlook somehow didn't save the appointment (I'm sure I did something wrong!) so I forgot and missed it. On Wednesday, the person that had referred the client saw me out at lunch and said "what happened with so-and-so?"

Many people attend networking events, but don't really work them effectively, in fact, for many people it is a total waste of time.
First of all, go into the event with a plan, how many contacts will you make? Is there something specific that you need to find right now (like a printer, an attorney, a photographer)?
