St Petersburg is in the running for Yachting magazine’s Best Yachting Town! This is the first year for this contest and it has been narrowed down to 50 international semi-finalist cities. The magazine hopes to make this an annual competition.
There are 6 towns in Florida included on the list: St Petersburg, Fort Lauderdale, Islamorada, Key West, Punta Gorda and Stuart. It's no April Fool's day joke!! The Tampa Bay Rays season home opening game at Tropicana Field against the Baltimore Orioles is sold out. It's the sixth consecutive season the Rays have sold out the home opener.

It was absolutely amazing to attend the events surrounding the Honda Grand Prix of St Petersburg this past weekend. On Thursday, my business meeting downtown with clients just happened to end shortly before the night parade began. I thought that I might as well stay since most of the streets were blocked off for the parade & getting home would be a bit of hassle. Yesterday several of us in the office were discussing electric cars partly because a dealership opened up next door to our office in January. One side was convinced that electric vehicles were going to be worse for individuals because their electric bills would increase tremendously. The other side pointed out that the gasoline bills would decrease enough to make up for the increase in electrical bills. Some were concerned about the environment while others were only concerned with how it affected them personally & financially. Floridians still confident about economy for second month
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Feb. 23, 2011 - Consumer confidence among Floridians remained at 77 out of 100 in February, suggesting a sustainable and improved view of the economy, according to a new University of Florida (UF) survey.
The index rose seven points last month, an unexpected increase according to Chris McCarty, director of UF's Survey Research Center in the Bureau of Economic and Business Research, considering the economic climate in Florida. However, he considers it noteworthy that the index didn't change dramatically this month.
