SCRABBLE RECIPE Christmas May Be Over, But We Still Need Football Snacks!
One of my favorite holiday snack treats from as long as I can remember is Scrabble. My grandmother always made batches and batches of this yummy stuff around Christmas. Mom makes it now, from a Chex cereal recipe and good as it is, her recipe doesn't include Cheerios. (Okay, I know you shouldn't play with your food but I used to like to spear the Cheerios with a pretzel stick before eating it) So this year, my husband has been questioning me about the (13 comments)
The Alabama Theatre is hands-down the best venue in Birmingham to watch a movie (IMHO)! Built in 1927 and completely restored to it's original grandeur in 1998, the historic movie palace now hosts many live events as well as films. I love watching films on that huge screen! It brings back childhood memories, when every movie-going experience was a something truly special!
This year the Holiday Film Series presents a great line-up of Christmas favorites! The admission price is $7 for adults (6 comments)
O CHRISTMAS TREE, O CHRISTMAS TREE HOW LOVELY ARE THY BRANCHES!
Especially after my cats have climbed ALL your lovely branches and finally found their favorite one to sleep on, or instead chose the floor....<<sigh>>....and so another holiday season begins! I'll be "fluffing" the tree and repairing Christmas ornaments every day until it's time to put all the pretties away until next year.
Little Kitty was too tired to climb the tree....TG!
OH NO! Santa lost his beard......again.
Thanksgiving will be here in a few short (8 comments)

This is my grandaughter, Molly, sporting a new bauble that she found in her stocking. It's a pretty big rock, don't you think?
We have several stops to make on Christmas Day and the first is always my daughter's house.......so early in the morning that it is still dark when we load up the car with their gifts and leave the house.
Okay, so this rock did not come from Jared. Can you guess what it is?
King's College Choir Cambridge - Once In Royal David's City
I always look forward to listening to the Lessons and Carols Service presented by the Kings College Choir at Christmas. As far as I know the service always begins with the voice of a young boy soprano singing Once In Royal David's City with no accompaniment. The music is peaceful and lovely, and the Chapel at Kings College with it's beautiful stained glass is magnificent. It would be incredible to one day be able to attend this service in person.
The First Casualty of the 2009 Christmas Season at Our House.......
We have three cats that live indoors and each year they love Christmas as much as anyone, having a lot of fun at the expense of the ornaments! As they get older I'm noticing they are becoming a little less mischievious. Two of the cats used to sleep in the branches of the Christmas tree and I would have to reshape the tree each morning and put ornaments back on.......there were usually a dozen or so on the floor from a night of fun and frolicking.
Hi everyone! Our newest little grandbaby experienced his first Christmas this year. He's a sweet little thing and is just taking a couple of steps...walking soon! He had a fun Christmas and had a great time... but I wanted you all to see his cute Christmas PJs....
Sweet Baby!

Santa made an early appearance this afternoon in Pelham AL!
Each Christmas Eve he finds time to ride through every neighborhood in Pelham with a special Fire and Police escort, waving to all the kids and adults.
He rides with his sleigh on top of a firetruck, while his reindeer are back at Santa's Workshop at the North Pole getting ready for a long night of work!
Here is Santa visiting the Ivy Brook neighborhood.....

How would you like to drink Eggnog that was made in a huge batch in the bathtub? (I think this just might be a bit of embellishment)
My husband, Mike, has some friends whose family makes some of the best eggnog. They save glass bottles all year long, then on Thanksgiving Day they mix up a huge batch in the tub (so the story goes). It's a family tradition! They give it to special friends for Christmas and it's really hard to make the list!
Can you imagine how many dozens of eggs it takes? Milk? Rum? LOTS! (29 comments)
Christmas Decorations at The Riverchase Galleria in Hoover AL
The Galleria is always one of the most crowded malls in the Birmingham area during the holiday shopping season.
Where are all the shoppers?
These photos were taken during the week,
It will look a lot different on the weekend!
