According to the City of Gaithersburg, "Alert Gaithersburg, a system that is funded and maintained by the Department of Homeland Security through the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, is switching to a new system as of October 15th. If you are already a current subscriber you must enroll to avoid an interruption in service."
