I have noticed that each time my Hp toner cartridges are empty it still is at least half full. With a little research I came to realize that that the full empty status is controlled by the reset chip and not by how much toner is actually in the cartridge.
If the reset chip is replaced badda boom ,badda bing.......I have a full cartridge again and there is no wasted toner. I recently purchase a full set of 4 chips on ebay for less than $25.00.

No One Likes Wasting Money
Toner cartridges for your printer are expensive. A full set of cartridges for my color printer runs close to $500. My black and white is about $80.
 When the light flashes or you get a message on your printer or computer that the toner is "low," get out your credit card and prepare to spend around a hundred bucks.
Both new and older machines can be "rejuvenated" with refill kits.
