"More golfers are heading to the Sandhills region this year as the industry's peak season arrives", tourism officials said in an article this morning in The Fayetteville Observer. It is true that the Pinehurst area of North Carolina is best known for its golf having hosted two US Open Men's Golf Championships (1999 and 2005 and will do so again in 2014), and three US Women's Open Championships (1997, 2001, and 2007 and will return for an unprecedented fourth time also in 2014).
