lake highlands: Summer is Here. We Need You... and Your Home! - 06/09/15 03:12 AM
So, you're pretty "in touch" with the happenings of Dallas. And you keep abreast of the real estate market. Things look HOT, right? Well, I'm here to tell you, that even though the real estate market has improved over the last couple of years, we have yet to reach full recovery – inventory is still low! Demand has increased dramatically. And housing inventory is still hard to come by, especially at the entry level...
The National Association of Realtors (NAR) revealed that there is a pent-up seller demand... all different causes, one of which might be great financing rates that continue to be historically the best in certain … (0 comments)

lake highlands: Why Should I Hire You to Sell My Home? - 05/01/15 03:59 AM
Why should you hire me to sell your home? What makes me different?
As of April, 2015, there were a recorded 89,439 statewide licensed Real Estate Agents who are members of the Texas Association of Realtors. That's a lot! You'll find most of them in the larger triangle of Dallas/ Fort Worth to Austin/ San Antonio to Houston. Meaning... no matter where you live, you have plenty to choose from. So out of all of these, what makes me different? Great question!

lake highlands: Is Real Estate Superficial? Are Realtors Materialistic? - 09/17/14 09:23 AM

There's an old adage about real estate, applicable to many professions - that it takes money to make money. But does this mean that real estate is a materialistic profession? Maybe the wrong question to ask I sit in the middle of the glitz of a Dallas skyline… nonetheless, it may be interesting to reflect on the resources at daily use of a Realtor, if you're thinking about joining the industry or maybe observing from an outsiders perspective.
The Car
As with many big city slickers, Dallas Realtors are notorious for their vehicle. And while I don't care to expose … (3 comments)

lake highlands: New Commercial Development - Strip Center Details in East Dallas - 06/06/14 02:21 AM
East Dallas has been under quite the buzz with speculation and hypothesis of what is to come for the dust filled corner of Gaston and Garland Avenue. What served for many years as the hub of weekend activity with a Latin Dance Club, it saw many years prior to as a vacant lot with a shell of commercial space.
For a short time, the YMCA located in the strip center and has since moved across to the East Side of Gaston. With money and new homeowners coming to East Dallas, the city has taken notice.

Just released is this sample … (0 comments)

lake highlands: New Home Construction meets International Shipping? - 10/04/13 06:59 AM
Does this house come with shipping charges for weight?

Old Lake Highlands is buzzing with traffic that slows right around this home - a new construction that seems to be maximizing on the shipping containers that perhaps some of their materials came in? It's prominent at the Mockingbird/Peavy juncture of East Dallas, just East of White Rock Lake, and has been causing some slow passer by activity.
Fad? Ingenious? What do you think?

lake highlands: White Rock Lake to Grow GREEN! - 07/25/13 03:37 AM
I'm fortunate enough to call White Rock Lake my home, and love the areas surrounding. Lake Highlands and Lakewood are both prominant East Dallas neighborhoods that house many fellow East Dallas lovers. And as neighbors do, we shop local, live local and help local.
So what's new? More trees are coming to White Rock Lake Park! This fall, trees will be planted at the Big Thicket. But first, volunteers are needed to clear out invasive plants like privet and bamboo to make room for the new trees.
Volunteer to help with site preparation and you can be part of the fall … (1 comments)

lake highlands: Weekly Mortgage Update: 30yr Fixed - 3.75%; 15yr Fixed 2.75% - 04/01/13 03:18 AM
Well, a relatively quiet week. Mixed US economic data had little impact. Events in Europe were the main influence on mortgage rates, as investors were concerned about the uncertainty in Europe slowing the pace fo the global growth. As a result, mortgage rates ended a little lower in the week.
The bank problems in Cyprus raised broad questions about the relationship between the troubled countries and the stronger countries in the European Union (EU). Early in the week, Cyprus reached an agreement to receive an EU bailout package for it's banks. The terms of the aid highlighted the growing reluctance of … (0 comments)

East Dallas is in revitalization mode, both with homes turning over a new face and with new dining experiences and options for patron's to enjoy. If you are on the hunt for a new 'favorite' joint to frequent, take a look at some of the most recent food spots that have opened up:

The Lot just opened it's doors Monday, and has had a packed parking lot ever since. Once the Backyard Beach Bar located at Gaston and Garland at the quasi-entrance to Lake Highlands and on your way to the Arboretum, it has had a major face lift and … (2 comments)

lake highlands: A Few Gallons between Lakewood & Lake Highlands - White Rock Lake! - 07/12/12 12:54 AM
Dallas’ White Rock Lake is huge at over 1,000 acres and offers some beautiful vistas of Downtown, with an abundance of things to do and see all around. There are over nine miles of trails, designated sites for bird watching, picnic areas, events facilities, boating docks, fishing piers, a dog park, the Dallas Arboretum and the Bath House Cultural Center, just to name a few.
The lake first saw early settlement in the 1840's and has been a prized area for homestead ever since. Some early settlers and their communities are still seen in the names in and around the Lake today - Fisher, Lawther … (1 comments)

lake highlands: Holy Hail! Dallas gets a hefty beating... - 06/14/12 12:35 AM
No doubt, there will be many an insurance claim and many a call to windshield repair companies today. Yesterday, right at rush hour, a large part of the DFW Metroplex was hit with fast moving rain and hail storms, bringing fury like many hadn't seen before.
As Texas goes, most of the storms were spotty and inconsistant - rain at your location meant golfball sized hail at your Mom's home, about 20 minutes down the road.

If your car or home was damaged, as many of East Dallas and Lakewood was, take the time today to go through the process … (5 comments)
