erie pa: Celebrate Friendship: Happy Birthday, Carol - 04/02/11 03:28 PM
Celebrate Friendship  ~  Happy Birthday, Carol

Life is fragile and friendship is priceless.  Tonight I had the opportunity to celebrate a friend's birthday with her family & grandkids at Aoyama, local Japanese Steakhouse.  Over the years Carol & I have attended many of our children's special occasions, birthdays, graduations, weddings, birth of their children, and now it is wonderful to see them return to celebrate with their mother.

Happy Birthday, Carol.  In lieu of 'birthday gift' I wrote in card

erie pa: Up Close and Personal - 04/02/10 12:28 AM
While taking photos of the sunrise this morning I thought of Debi Boucher's post suggesting that we get Up Close & Personal with the photography.

I thought about trying to position the sunrise in the 'V' of this huge grouping of tree trunks and realized that execution of my bright idea wasn't going to happen.

But as I walked toward the tree the placque caught my eye and I decided to accept my limited ability.

erie pa: Snow, Snow, Snow: Fun or Menace? - 01/07/10 07:41 AM
70% of the country is dealing with weather related issues.  Snow, ice, wind, frigid temperatures.
Menace, curse, death grip or FUN.  Yes, FUN.  As kids we looked forward to snowy weather.  Reading Michelle Francis' post I chuckled thinking about the Red Flyer sled that entertained four kids for hours and hours each winter.  Then Irene Tron's post relayed details of the snowy forecast for Indiana and earlier Diane Rice was dreading the cold temps heading toward Chicago.
Well, back to being a kid and enjoying winter weather.    I think I will just head out to the woods.

erie pa: Sold Out Crowd at Seawolves Game - 08/25/09 09:35 AM
Fun night at the Erie Seawolves game in front of Sold Out Crowd.

6,952 in attendence bought a record number of Smith's hot dogs, Erie's favorite hot dog.  6,800 Hot Dogs Sold
(Hot dogs $1.00 and I ate two!)
I love the antics of the sideline entertainers (stuffed wieners and the Seawolves' mascot) and the vendors wearing wiener hats.
Erie is not the major league, but we have fun. Many businesses, churches and families enjoy a great evening at reasonable cost.

erie pa: And We Are Off to the Ole' Ball Game - 08/24/09 08:41 AM
"And we are off to the ole' ball game"

As a kid I remember my grandfather and my dad listening to baseball games on the radio on our front porch.  Once each summer the two of them would go to a Pirates game in Pittsburgh with other men from church.

In the fall our teachers sometimes allowed us to listen to the World Series games at the end of the day.  What a treat!
Now Tv ahs spoiled us with instant replays, but nothing beats a live game.  Tonight we are off to the ball game with a groups of friends … (8 comments)
