I recently had the good fortune of mentoring a couple of home stagers here in Atlanta. In one of our sessions, we found ourselves discussing the importance of a kitchen as it relates to the buyer. They had printed off instructions from a website on how to stage a kitchen. The advice, according to this site was to remove everything off of the countertops. Period, end of sentence. As a professional home stager in Atlanta, I disagree with that advice. Here's why. This is an example of what a kitchen looks like with nothing on the countertops:

Atlanta Home Staging I'm not scrooge. Trust me. Saying NO to a Christmas tree for the vacant home I just home staged in Atlanta wasn't easy. However, it was in the best interest of the homeowner. Why? The home needs to appeal to a broad base of prospective buyers. Period. End of sentence. Now to be fair, I did make a compromise. The homeowner was definitely interested in capturing the festivities of the holidays. With the staging occurring the Monday before Christmas, I understood that request. Here's what we came up with:

I almost labeled this post; "How to Add Warmth" to a room. It's simply amazing how bringing in a few chosen pieces of furniture and accessories can do for a room. As you can see the before and after pictures of our home staging below, the room took on a whole new persona after these items were added. As for the before picture - one could possibly describe this room as plain and boring. Staging a Vacant Home in Atlanta This morning, before I headed out to stage this newly constructed vacant home, I managed to post a teaser blog with before pictures. What I didn't tell anyone is that we were under a very tight deadline. I needed to have the home staged and ready for the agent by noon for her Tuesday Caravan. We left at 8:30 and arrived at 9:30. Vacant Home Staging in Atlanta Soon, I'll be on my way to home stage the following home in Atlanta. This newly constructed home is lovely on the outside. As for the inside, prospective buyers are having a difficult time understanding how best to use the space. Here are the before pictures:
