The Auburn City Schools Board of Education began steps to create a new elementary school Tuesday.
The board approved a motion to extend a contract with TCU Consulting Services from October 2017 to October 2018 at a called meeting Tuesday morning. TCU, which has overseen the construction of the new high school and renovations to other schools, will also oversee the construction of a new elementary school on Richland Road.
The school system purchased two lots on Richland Road near the Yarbrough Tennis Complex in May, intending to use the property for a new high school or two elementary schools.
