It’s the day after Christmas, and I am feeling blessed, thankful, and seriously exhausted! Despite that, having four young kiddos makes this time of year magical. The fire is blazing, the Christmas music is playing, we have 'snowman soup' (AKA, hot chocolate), and the kids are running around ecstatic about Santa’s late night visit. Have you ever been inside a home that’s been foreclosed? In 2013, I had my first encounter with one in Bixby. As I put the key in, I noticed the door was already unlocked. A client and I were welcomed by the sight of empty cups, food wrappers, and liquor bottles scattered along the floor as we entered. At once, we realized that someone was illegally staying in the house; “squatting” is more common than you might think.
