Sun City West Arizona is a community in the Northwest Valley of Metro Phoenix. they're a little over 17,000 homes in Sun City West Arizona and these make up what is thought to be one of the top active adult communities in the United States. Most of the people who live here are 55+ and a good majority of them are retired. This in no way means that these people are old or inactive. One of the most amazing things I have heard about in my travels as a real estate agent came today from one of my clients. It seems that there is a little known golf competition taking place on Monday, March 19th in Sun City, Arizona. In a land where golf is king it seems the kings are going to be golfing. It is the Men's Octogenarian Golf Tournament. This is where the players have to be 80 years old or older to compete! A lot of people wonder why they call the senior communities "Active Adult Communities". The only reason why they wonder is because they have never lived in or sold homes in the "Active Adult Communities". The people who reside in these "Active Adult Communities" are for the most part over 55 years in age and a good portion of them are retired. If you ask them about being 55+ or retired they will tell you that it just means they don't have to work anymore, not that they are dead.
