columbia: Last Week in Columbia, SC: Jan. 20 - Jan 26 - 01/30/19 09:57 AM

Any prospective homeowner, investor, or agent should know the goings on of the market in the area they are considering. Clients, family, friends, and even strangers often ask me "What's the market like?" and it is imperative to know that numbers in order to answer this question. The market numbers provide us insight into the growth of the different cities, the speed at which they are growing, and the temperature of the market. Below are the number for the major cities that I service in the greater Columbia area for this past week.

columbia: How Do I Pick a Neighborhood? - 01/10/19 07:40 AM
When looking for a home most buyers are concerned with whether they are purchasing in a "good area" and whether they will like the neighborhood. I encourage my clients to look at several items when considering a purchase in a neighborhood to help make the decision on whether to move forward.

Safety
We start with safety first so that you do not fall in love with a neighborhood only to discover that you do not feel safe in the area. As a Realtor, I cannot speak to the safety of an area, so I provide information to my clients about the rate of … (12 comments)

columbia: Moving Mondays: Week 1 - 01/07/19 10:56 AM

Anyone that has asked me what my least favorite thing to do is knows that the answer is simple: moving.

Going from dorm to dorm in college followed by apartment to apartment, it was such a relief when I closed on my home four years ago and declared that I would never move again! While not necessarily true, I do have plans to stay put for a good long while. My clients, however often ask me "When should I start packing?", "Should I hire a moving company or rent a truck?", and "What if I scratch the floors?".  Today I thought I … (2 comments)

columbia: Saturday Fun in Columbia, SC - 01/05/19 11:23 AM
Whenever I work with potential buyers in the Columbia, South Carolina area, I typically am asked "What is there to do on the weekends?". While Columbia is not a large city in comparison with Charlotte and Atlanta, we have a wide variety of entertainment so that everyone is sure to find something of interest.

This Saturday. my husband and I did one of my favorite Saturday morning activities: we went to Soda City on Main Street. Soda City is a large farmers market that has evolved over the past several years to become very popular with the locals. It is a great … (2 comments)

columbia: Neighborhood Spotlight #1 Briarcliffe Estates - 01/04/19 07:49 AM
The housing market in greater Columbia are of South Carolina offers a plethora of neighborhoods ranging in house size, price, lot size, and style. Each week I will be featuring 1-2 communities and this week the spotlight is on a starter home neighborhood located in Richland County called the "Briarcliffe Estates".

Briarcliffe offers a wide range of single family homes built primarily in the 1980s. Featuring the larger lot sizes that buyers often miss in newer homes, you are afforded a bit more privacy from your neighbors without feeling isolated. The homes are typically 3 bedroom/2 bathroom starter home size. This neighborhood … (5 comments)
