This day- and indeed, every day, I pause to remember my fellow veterans.
I remember those who have gone before me- ones who defeated Marxism, Communism and Fascism. I remember those buried under Arlington's white headstones- most identified, some not.
I remember those who served in Korea and Viet Nam- both the ones who returned home to nothing resembling a heroes' welcome, and those who have never returned at all. We remain vigilant and anticipate their return.
I remember a great number of friends I had the (5 comments)

For my last post in Bob Crane's Summer Video/"Show Us Your Local" Challenge, I don't believe I could've come up with a better place to visit than a place I've driven by countless times over the course of the past 7 years- the Central Florida Veterans Memorial Park.
Indeed, I've spent more time at the Orlando VA Medical Center across the street than I've ever wish upon anyone- yet today marked the first time I've ever actually visited this park. With memorials/monuments to a good number of (4 comments)
army: Memorial Day 2014

Memorial Day 2014 As they say of us veterans, "all gave some". Today, we pause to celebrate some who gave all.
I am proud to be a veteran. As a matter of fact, I'm really dang proud to be a veteran- and paraphrasing JFK, not for what I was able to do for the Navy, but what the Navy was able to do for me. At an early age, I was able to learn leadership principles I've carried with me all of my adult life- and I was blessed by the Almighty God to serve alongside the finest group of folks I've ever (4 comments)
This should be a great event- and I hope it's one that's well-attended. We all encounter veterans (or fellow veterans) in our work- and the more information we can get out to them, the better. Note: this program is ONLY open to veterans, their spouses and/or their families. It is not an event for Realtors themselves to attend- but rather one they may discuss with veteran clients or prospective clients whom they feel might benefit from it.

Every year-without fail, I have a number of folks call to wish me a happy Memorial Day. And every year-without fail, I have to educate folks on exactly what Memorial Day is...and what it isn't:
Memorial Day is not a day to honor anyone who's ever worn the uniform of our nation's military- that's called Veterans Day, held every year on the 11th of November.
Memorial Day is not a day to honor anyone who's currently serving in our military- that's called Armed (8 comments)
army: Love America? Hire a Veteran Today

Love America? Hire a Veteran Today Why are the simplest of things often hard? Why is “common sense” so uncommon? And why the heck is the unemployment rate for our returning war heroes higher than our nation’s overall unemployment rate? As my granny used to say, “Somebody oughtta be ashamed”. In this case, America, that “somebody” is all of us. Love America? Hire a Veteran Today 12.1% to 8.7%- veterans lose. Our country’s heroes leave the Jersey Shores, South Beach and all points between there and California‘s coastline. They leave family, friends and all luxuries behind- from a trip to that great steakhouse down the street to making (10 comments)
Pleased to re-blog your post here, Jeff. May we never, ever, ever forget the little flags and the individual salute each one of them receives and so richly deserves- for every one of these little ones represents a larger one that once draped a coffin of an American hero. I've actually re-blogged this a couple of times now without apology for redundancies- as we need to remember our war dead even after "flags out" begins on Tuesday...
Arlington National Cemetery honors our nation's fallen military heroes with "Flags-In" on Thursday, May 26. "Flags-In" has been conducted annually since the (6 comments)
