The lights are on- but some things are clearer in the dark
My power's back on. Now, that might not seem like a big deal- as folks lose power and get it back on all the time. Storms and their winds do a number on power lines, and many a pole falls victim to them. Not the case here, though!

Yes, it's time for The Taste of Altamonte once again. This is a good event that the Altamonte Springs Rotary Club puts on. It affords local food vendors (as well as some of the national franchise-type restaurants) the chance to give back to our local community- and gives all of us the chance to get some good food and have a good time!

Nothing beats a good chicken race. Except a great chicken race, that is.
And a great chicken race is what you'll find in the Oviedo Kiwanis Charity Chicken Race.
The Kiwanis Club of Oviedo-Winter Springs' fourth annual Charity Chicken Race, which will be held this Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Oviedo Gym and Aquatics Center.
The event, made possible by the local chapter of global volunteer organization Kiwanis International, will last roughly three hours and will feature several competitions for children of all ages, including the traditional chicken parade.

Honesty Begins At Home
They say that "charity begins at home".  I believe that, and know many others that feel the same.  It's nice to have a kind heart and want to save the world- but you have to first get your own house in order.  And how about this one:  If you don't know how to swim, don't jump in the pool and try to save someone else that doesn't know how to swim.
Honesty is important, too, you know- and as with charity, it should begin at home...or with homes.
