Well, here we go again. After finishing up her texts and Facebook updates, the young frogger pictured above made it across the street without injury. A gentleman who decided to walk in the middle of I-4 yesterday morning didn't fare quite as well.
When metaphor becomes reality, getting "hit by a Mack truck" isn't the best place to start...

Well, we've officially wrapped up our Florida Realtors Mid-Winter meetings for 2014. This was my first trip to the meetings as a sitting Director of both our Orlando Regional Realtor Association and Florida Realtors, and it was a pretty good weekend.
There were lulls over the past 4 days, to be sure- and I'll be frankly honest in saying that some parts of the weekend were abject bore-fests...bore-a-paloozas. Aside from the few bore-tastic moments, though, there were a lot of instances that reinforced my knowledge of how much (2 comments)
The fight's not over, and the law is far from "settled". I'll stand with The Holy One over 9 mortals in Supreme Court robes any day. Firmly pro-life, today and every day. May God bless all who appreciate and fight for the sanctity of human life.
Seems there's been a bit of trouble brewing down on Marco Island. Some of the goings-on with the Code Enforcement folks of this seemingly idyllic area of Southwest Florida should serve as a reminder for homeowners elsewhere, though: if you rent out your property to tenants who don't comply with codes, you're ultimately responsible for paying any fines that accrue. In this story, a property owner (technically their daughter) appeared at a code enforcement hearing to answer complaints that their tenant had had committed a number of (2 comments)
Can't really remember where I stumbled across this one- but whether it's designed to protect the ol' whitening strips from being swiped or the ephedrine products from the local 'hood's meth heads, design here seems a tad bit faulty....

This can be a tough one for some: telling clients what they really don't want to hear. It's something we have to do in this business, though. Whether a listing agent on the sales side of life or a property manager looking to list a rental property, all are best served when clients are provided with current, accurate information and honest assessments....
...even when they don't want to hear them.

I've seen it a lot in real estate/property management, but the scenario plays itself out in other facets of life as well: passing up good while holding out for great leaves one with nothing. In property management, for instance, an owner with a place on the market and vacant might require that applicants meet a higher credit score than our usual one. That's well within their prerogative- and some would argue it's human nature that another applicant will soon follow any that are sent on (2 comments)
11 appointments for the day, all but #8 went well...
Yesterday was a pretty good day in terms of activity, I suppose. It's typically a bit slow right now, but I had 11 appointments set to show 7 different properties to a total of 11 tenant prospects. I set out for the day and starting knockin' 'em out: 1, 2, 3, 4... Everyone was showing up for their appointments- and on time for the most part! Then came #8, my 2:00 pm showing. I'd spoken with this prospect at (130 comments)

2014 Rental listings- Photos You Shouldn't Post We've all seen 'em- those ads we can't believe someone posted, yet they posted. I'm not sure what goes through the minds of some, but I figured that as we head into 2014, I'd offer a few examples of photos you shouldn't post. For those who are into lists of "do's and don'ts" and such, these would surely be "don'ts". The photo above is a decent example of Photos You Shouldn't Post Type #1: blurry photos. Perhaps this photo's snapper was intentionally blurring the entire (8 comments)

Roach spray won't kill a frog
A friend of mine called me up the other day, and it seems that a Florida green frogs such as this had somehow gained access to their home- and was hopping around a bedroom. Said friend not being the biggest fan of green frogs, she told me she couldn't catch it and that her plan was to kill it. She'd been stalking it with a can of Raid for a while, and.....
Jaywalking...an Orlando family tradition that took a tragic turn this Christmas. There are some things we shouldn't pass along to our kids- and the habit of jaywalking should be pretty high on the "not to" list.... Another tragedy- yet a very preventable one if folks would only use sidewalks for walking and let cars use the streets.

A couple of weeks ago, I got a call from one of my best friends back in Alabama. Jay was calling to let me know that his mother was dying- and if I were going home for Christmas, he wanted to make sure I stopped by to see her one last time. Having stomach cancer at 91, Libby's remaining days are surely few. Ultimately, I wasn't able to head home for Christmas- and my thoughts over the past week turned to Libby. I knew I (4 comments)
I attend Aloma (Baptist) Church in Winter Park, Florida. We are partnering with Living Water International (http://www.water.cc/) to help spread the gospel to the people in Leon, Nicaragua. Our team of 10-12 people will travel to Nicaragua in August of 2014. Our overall trip will run from August 2nd-8th, and we'll participate in both digging a new well for a village there and providing hygiene education for the community's women and children. I need YOUR help, though! This trip will cost a total (0 comments)
