Almighty God, whose great power and eternal wisdom embraces the universe,
watch over all policemen and other law enforcement officers.
Protect them from harm in the performance of their duty
to stop crime, robberies, riots and violence.
Help them keep our streets and homes safe day and night, we pray.
We recommend them to your loving care because their duty is dangerous.
Grant them your unending strength and courage in their daily assignments.

Program created to lessen pedestrian deaths in Orlando?

Program created to lessen pedestrian deaths in Orlando?

I'd surely like to believe this is the case- but I just as surely have my reservations about any of the programs I've heard of thus far.  I have a number of reasons for those reservations- for while I've just chronicled the 50th local pedestrian death as part of my Pedestrian Tales From the Middle of the Road series, I simply don't feel that our local law enforcement officials "get it".
The Best Foot Forward program being implemented by a coalition of local elected and … (0 comments)

Pedestrian Tales From the Middle of the Road, #47
Coming not too far behind PTMOTR #46, we have the latest pedestrian in our area to die crossing the street while outside a crosswalk.  Some things are different from each of my stories to the next, but a few things are surely constants:  folks here cross the street when and where they choose to do so, they have little to no concern for motorists, and they simply expect that vehicles will stop for them and respect their roadway.
Another constant is the lack of law enforcement with regard to our pedestrian traffic … (2 comments)

Pedestrian Tales From The Middle of the Road, #16
It's been a while... Admittedly, I haven't actually been reading the print version of the Orlando Sentinel every day- so there's always a chance that some deaths slip by me.  I truly think we've had a couple of weeks without one, though- which may be a record in these parts.
At any rate, this is a short story.  It's not sweet by any means, though.  It's yet another preventable death, yet another family left to mourn- and yet another young lady of 28 years old that must carry the memories of this … (0 comments)

Realtor School Summit:  Public Schools and The Housing Recovery

"What school is that home zoned for?"...."Is is a good school?"

If you've been in this business more than a minute, you've fielded these questions a number of times.  As the flyer states, homebuyers rank schools as a top deciding factor when purchasing a home.

The same applies for tenant prospects.  It's a tough thing to stay current on which school a particular home is zoned for these days- tougher than I've ever seen it- and the issue is … (2 comments)
