Pedestrian Tales From the Middle of the Road, #70

Pedestrian Tales From the Middle of the Road, #70
Quite frankly, my first reaction to this story was "Really?  I wouldn't imagine a Smart Car could hit someone hard enough to kill 'em".
Pedestrian hit, killed by Smart car in Osceola County
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla.  Florida Highway Patrol reports that a pedestrian was hit and killed after walking into the path of a Smart car driven by a young woman in Osceola County.

43 days and counting...Florida Realtors Convention and Expo wrap-up

Well, with 43 days to go before our local board elections, I decided to take a few minutes and make another quick video.  Quick for me, that is!  In this video, I discuss the recent Florida Realtors Convention and Expo that just wrapped up here in Orlando at the World Center Marriott.
I was able to get in some classes (including an Advanced Communications one for free CE credits!), but also had the opportunity to attend the Professional Standards Forum and Property Management Committee meeting, among others.

Real estate's hot...from "OC" to shining "OC"
It's been a long time...for many, a looooong time.  Signs that the overall real estate market is improving are everywhere, though- from Orange County, CA to Orange County, FL (or as I see it, from the West coast's "OC" to our "OC").
The story from California is encouraging, and goes along with what I've seen here in the past few months- it's become an investor's market once again.  Rents are going up- and that serves to help me overcome what it often my biggest … (5 comments)

A good agent is key as market improves

A good agent is key as market improves
In the past month or so, a number of stories have heralded what many of us here in the Orlando area have known for some time now- the market is improving.  I've written of how rents are increasing for the first time in a long time, and's list of "Top Ten Turnaround Towns" has Orlando placing #3 in America as median sales prices continue to increase:
This is all well and good, but none of this matters if you don't have a … (0 comments)

real estate: Pride of Ownership...and the lack of it - 08/21/11 07:46 AM
Pride of Ownership...and the lack of it
It's a funny thing- but "pride of ownership" is a term I've used for well over 20 years.  I started using it back in my Navy days, long before anything to do with real estate ever crossed my mind.
Surprising?  Shouldn't be- for "pride of ownership" is something we can and should take in all facets of our lives.  But without any license at all, one can survey the landscape of the world we live in today and know that "pride of ownership" is becoming a commodity more precious than gold- and that the … (2 comments)

real estate: Rent check might bounce? Bad property manager! - 03/04/11 03:19 AM
Quick question:  When was the last time you disappointed yourself?  A few weeks ago, I wrote my pastor a quick note to express bit of disappointment in a few things, but nothing major.  I even felt odd in voicing the least bit of criticism- as I love my church, love the pastor and love everyone I've been fortunate enough to fellowship with.  I've come to expect a great deal from my church, though- and with higher expectations comes a greater opportunity for disappointment.  That's not always a bad thing, though, because those rarely disappointed are those that have simply set … (2 comments)
