Car colors! Look around you now. White is the dominate color for cars and trucks, or it seems that way to me. Hubby, car dealer, indicated one time that colors on cars made the vehicle cost more. This old 50's post card showing cars, and one truck, parked around one of Searcy's favorite eating spots, Bill's Grill, showed a great love for light green! Beside Bill's Grill was Noble Motel. Our newfound friend, James Whitlow, poses the question of when did Bill's Grill become Bill's Restaurant after he studied his historic post card as shown above. He points out that the back of the card calls it Bill's Restaurant and the front of the card shows the "Grill" either removed or unlighted. I probably would not have noticed such a thing. When folks went out to eat 45 or 50 years ago they went to Bill's Grill on East Race Street in Searcy Arkansas. I found this old post card showing it as it was when it was so popular. I remember going there when I arrived in Searcy in the late 60's. They had a manager out there named Earnestine who made you feel so welcome. She had a special dessert that was warm chocolate cake with chocolate syrup and ice cream. Ummm! If my memory is right, she became owner of the property. This old photo post card of Bill's Grill in Searcy AR on Race Street is sure to bring back a lot of memories to people who grew up in Searcy. What was then that little two-lane highway in front is now a 4 and 5 lane street that you avoid ever trying to turn left on. The cars in this picture are fun. The parking lot was full most of the time throughout the years because they had great food and a wonderful hostess named Earnestine.
