charles buell: The Raven continues to haunt me. Nutsy to the rescue? - 12/20/17 06:40 AM

The Raven from 2008 in my backyard?
Way back on December 7, 2008 I wrote the following blog.  It was one of my best ones when I was just beginning  blogging.  Click here to read the blog.   It was so sad with such a pleading tone.  My cat had killed Charles Buell's Raven and I was giving a sincere apology.
Look at this picture.  It looks like The Raven with his little beak down and his feet up in the air.  I think he has come back to haunt me!  I had a great friend then named Nutsy who belonged to blogger Steve … (4 comments)

charles buell: Raven, that crow that belongs to Charles Buell, has come calling in Arkansas. - 01/31/10 11:33 PM
Sometime last year Charles Buell's Raven came to Searcy Arkansas with devious intent. Charles, known as Charlie B, is a home inspector in Washington state.
My cat took Raven out with a few scrunches.
Nutsy, who is a certifried home inspector trained by Steven Smith in Washinton state, has become my godson, vindicated my cat from having done anything wrong.
Look who has come back, doubled!
We've had another snowed-in few days and some people may call us wimps but life comes to a standstill in the South when we have ice and snow.  We're smart, though, and could probably learn how to handle it.  … (21 comments)

charles buell: That cat was just out for our money, honey. Elvis has left the porch. - 01/16/10 02:29 PM
I wrote a blog a few weeks ago about a cat who came to our back door, appeared to love us, visited often, and ate a lot.
We thought the gods had sent us another cat to take the place of our guard cat who'd become famous because of Nutsy and Raven and possoms and skunks and traps.  She just disappeared and a day or so later this cat came calling.

We named him Elvis because we'd look up and Elvis would have left the porch. (Elvis has left the building....) Well, now Elvis has left us.
Here's my theory of what … (14 comments)

charles buell: Dear Activerain Gods. Is there a real Nutsy? I think he is my godson? - 12/23/09 11:59 PM
I wrote this blog last year about my little godson Nutsy Wallenda, who is a squirrely home inspector.  He has been on Activerain for a long time now.  I think it is worth repeating.
***********************************************************************************
Dear Gods of Activerain,
I am getting a little old.
Some of my old friends tell me there is no Nutsy.  They say Nutsy is just an imaginary squirrel. That makes me sad.
Please tell me the truth.  Is there a real Nutsy?
Sincerely,
Ms. Barbara

charles buell: Okay! Okay! I'm sorry!!! Now get me out of this cage!! A curious cat apologizes. - 09/09/09 02:43 AM
The sun is rising.
We look outside.  There is something in the trap!  Another possom?
Get up close.  What's that faint "Meoww?"
We laughed and the "Meoww" get louder and more plaintive and more insistent.
So this is what she shouted.
I'M SORRY THAT I SAT ON THE TOP OF THIS TRAP AND GLOATED!
I'M SORRY THAT I LAUGHED AT THE OTHER ANIMALS CAUGHT IN THIS TRAP!!
I'M SORRY THAT I'VE BEEN CATCHING AND EATING BIRDS!!!
I'M SORRY THAT I WAS GREEDY AND TRIED TO GRAB THAT PUTRID SAUSAGE BEFORE THE POSSOM CAME AROUND!!!!

I'M SORRY THAT I LAID OUT … (59 comments)

charles buell: Nutsy's house in Arkansas, a gift to my little godson..... - 04/27/09 01:53 AM
Just a blog or two ago, I found this fixer-upper for my little godson Nutsy, the super-squirrel-home-inspecter-assistant from Washington, Certifried.  He sorta likes it here in Arkansas and wants to vacation here.

He sniffed at it and turned his little nose up like most spoiled godchildren do today.  They should have grown up during the Great Depression and they wouldn't be so picky and feel so entitled.  (Shut up, Barbara, or you'll hurt his little feelings....)
Anyway, my friend Don Thompson has found him another little play house.  This one will cost me a lot more and I'll have to take … (24 comments)

charles buell: Ouch!!! That hurt!!! Why didn't that home inspector warn me about this tree? - 04/17/09 02:13 AM
Looking back a few days I found this blog by Charles Buell, home inspector extreme  supreme, with a warning about a tree that might just fall and damage the house it was shading.  I thought it was a very good blog with his going above-and-beyond the call of duty in inspecting.
Two days ago I did a double-take as I drove by this scene in Searcy Arkansas.  Guess who I thought of immediately?  The tree looks as it if might have had a little decay.  It did not sell recently so I'm sure there had never been a home inspection but if there … (25 comments)

charles buell: Mother Nature is as mischievous as Nutsy Wallenda the Certifried Home Inspector Assistant! - 03/12/09 04:08 AM
I looked out the window this morning and it is March 12, 2009 and Mother Nature should know better.  It is Arkansas and we wore shorts two days ago!  There was ice all over our trees....again!
I should have been able to predict it because the camelias have just bloomed.  Mother Nature always waits til the bush is covered with pretty pink flowers and then she attacks.  It's as bad as when Nutsy, Steve Smith's certifried assistant tries to sabotage Charles Buell, Nutsy's arch enemy,.......or that could be the other way around.
This will probably be our last attack for the year.  Once … (20 comments)

charles buell: Relocation completed! Skunk has new home! - 01/13/09 12:25 PM

Perhaps you get tired of hearing about skunks and possums and how many we have around my house due to our being too free with food and because my Raven-eating cat has cat food on the porch which she'll share if she has a juicy crow or bird to eat.
But here's another success story.  We had a heck of a time catching this one.  He absolutely played with our minds.  He was so beautiful with the white and black stripes.  As I saw him flaunting his beauty I wondered why no one has ever had a skunk-fur coat.....probably not even Cruella De … (41 comments)

charles buell: Activerain, can you tell me if Nutsy is really real? - 12/24/08 07:46 AM
Dear Gods of Activerain,
I am getting a little old.
Some of my old friends tell me there is no Nutsy.
Please tell me the truth.  Is there a real Nutsy?
Sincerely,
Ms. Barbara

THE ANSWER.

Ms. Barbara, your old friends are wrong!  They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age.
They can't even believe what they see.  Not believe in Nutsy?  You may as well not believe in Santa Claus or the or fairies.  You may as well not believe that images can go across the nation instantly and that sound reaches around the world … (48 comments)

charles buell: A sad public apology to a friend on the Rain, Mr. Charles Buell, Home Inspector - 12/07/08 04:22 AM
I have tears in my eyes as I write this public apology to Mr. Buell, Home Inspector, Artist, Bird Tamer, and blogger friend.  He has tamed this bird and called it the Raven.  Ooops, I meant he HAD tamed this raven and trained it as an assistant.
HAD is the sadness.  The bird came calling on me in Arkansas since I have bragged on her beauty.
I was in the kitchen and my cat was outside with this really frantic meowing at the door.  I looked out to see what was her problem.  She had captured and tortured something and she … (81 comments)

charles buell: Here's to Charlie, Steven, Ray and Larry, a great photo & sold sign. - 03/25/08 01:38 AM
SOLD My favorite home inspectors are Charlie, Steven and Ray.  They know everything about houses and make you feel that your house is probably full of bugs or mold or squirrels or mice or mud.  They send you to the attic to check for all kinds of things.  To them I'm sending this photo and letting them analyze the contruction of the house.
To Larry, my techie friend, I'm sending this beautiful SOLD sign that I'm using to show that I have sold this property.  I am extremely pleased to be able to say that it is no longer in my inventory.  … (4 comments)
