December 1995, the last chapter that I wrote regarding the origins of Searcy Country Club.  It really is a fun story told to me by a nice gentleman, Hubert Smith, who has passed on but is not forgotten.

golfing: He won!! He has tomatoes on the 4th of July! Tomato growing update. - 07/05/09 01:16 AM

I've made fun of my husband twice on this blog site about his growing tomatoes and using hair and soap to scare the deer away from his plants.  He only has 4 plants because he has a full-time golf hobby that disallows gardening.
Well, yesterday, on the 4th of July he was able to harvest 3 tomatoes! 
He is one proud farmer!!  He says he got the best of those   #$%^&*!!#!   deer. His goal was to have tomatoes by July 4!  Victory!!!
Now I've gotta figure out whether we can eat them or just admire them. I asked him if he'd kept up … (26 comments)

The Governor of Arkansas is Mike Beebe from Searcy Arkansas.  He used to be just a good old guy who worked as an attorney in Searcy and played golf with the fellows.  He still plays golf with the fellows and is still a good guy but now lives in the Governor's mansion in Little Rock.
A few years back they were playing golf and a squirrel actually picked up his golf ball and hightailed it up a tree.....actually stole the ball and probably cost the governor a stroke or two.  I suspect it was some relative of our … (73 comments)
