griffithville ar: Morning Sun corner, then and now. Post card. The way it was. Searcy AR - 10/29/23 01:38 PM

Old postcard for sale on ebay.
Look at this fascinating picture of the old Morning Sun Tourist Cottages in Searcy AR.  Morning Sun corner offered a lot.  I thought it was just a filling station but here is what was offered according to the back of the card.  Restaurant, Gas Service, Bar-B-Q, Sandwiches, Plate Lunches, Short Orders, Soft Drinks, Tobaccos, and Tourist Cottages.  It offered 24 hour services, was located 4 miles south of Searcy and 50 miles north of Little Rock on Hwy 67!  Unfortunately, the date is not readable and the building is now replaced by the brand new filling … (2 comments)

griffithville ar: Griffithville AR 1953 Girls' Basketball team White County tournament - 10/25/20 11:22 AM

Griffithville AR basketball team
What a treasure!  Found in a 1953 basketball tournament program!  This is in color because it was on the back of the cover page.  It is from 1953 when girls also had a sport to play.  Now, not only is there no Griffithville basketball team but there is no Griffithville school.  Griffithville, along with so many of the little towns that were included in this program, has had to consolidate with larger schools.  My goal is to print on this blog each team that participated that year.  Look for your friends or relatives and enjoy the memory.

griffithville ar: A fluffy chicken? I got educated today in Griffithville AR. - 10/13/17 01:56 PM

I had never, that I can remember, seen a soft and fluffy chicken.  I was thrilled at a listing appointment today to see this little bird in the back yard of the property.  In fact, the home owner had several in different colors!  It has become common for folks to have chickens as pets now so there may be lots of these out there.  She fed it a boiled egg and that was a new thing for me to learn.  I had no idea chickens love boiled eggs!  It was a nice day and a nice visit!

griffithville ar: Artists and houses. John E Keller. Searcy AR. Griffithville AR. - 04/21/17 08:18 AM

Super Sleuth Anita Hart Fuller shared this picture with me because she said it was the home of her childhood friend Alice Anne O'Donell who lived at Griffithville AR, a small town several miles from Searcy AR.  This one is just a photograph of the original watercolor painting done by John E Keller, a very successful artist in Searcy.   Anita had it done and presented the original painting as a gift to her friend.  The date signed by Mr. Keller is 1993.

The question might be why?  Why did Anita commission this painting?  We have the answer to that question!  Anita … (13 comments)

griffithville ar: Another historic house....but not in Searcy AR. It's in Griffithville. - 12/18/11 09:32 AM
You know how kids are?  They hold it against you because you never owned a two-story house so they could slide down the banisters like they do in the movies?
I had one like that.  Now she's grown-up and in fact, is helping me with my real estate business.
BUT
This house came on the market and she was hopping up and down like a 12 year old because she used to play with kids who lived in that house and she wanted to go preview it!
I had a wee bit of curiosity myself since I heard the envy plea … (14 comments)
