We are beginning a new year.  2016!  2015 surely went by in a hurry and we are all glad to start anew.
Look back, however, to how it used to be.  I have so many old pictures on my computer and I have written so many blogs that I forget what I have already published on this blog.  But this old building is worth seeing again.  I have it down as Judsonia Hotel and wonder if it lasted up until the tornado.  The enormous size can be seen by the person on the porch.  Porches were important then  in order to be … (5 comments)

Does anyone know where this would have been?  The writing says, "View of Damsite near Judsonia Ark. By A E Burton"

Remember when the preacher baptized in the river with the saved person fully dressed?  This great image has been shared by a reader.  Here is what he wrote to me.
Hello Barbara,Sending a scan of a baptizing. Notation on back gives name and location. I think the name is Henry Biden ?. This  body 0f water the Little Red or is it a large farm pond. Got this card in Cave City several years ago. Sending four scans one at a time. Hope your readers like it.James

I am reblogging this for Don Thompson, one of my localism contributors who knows all about our Searcy and surrounding area.  He tells a little about Steprock.

Recently there was a postcard in the local paper showing a scene from the little farming community, Steprock, which is about 18 miles North of Searcy.

Steprock, circa 1910 A minister in a white shirt baptizes a young man as a woman watches from the riverbank near the small White County community.
