remax advantage searcy ar: Activerain statistics. A look back that is pretty amazing! Many blogs! - 08/20/19 01:25 PM
Activerain Stats
It is fun at times to go back and check our history on active rain.  I was there at the beginning or at least very shortly after the beginning.  I like the way we can check statistics and see the past.
My blog that has had the most views was about the biggest private house in the world. 234,774 views.  Perhaps because it appealed to the whole world. Date 5-08-08
Second highest views was about the Dirty Thirty, books that is.  43,010  Date 12-05-09
Third highest was about a voice that would repeat what you write, not what you say. Date 2-06-10  … (8 comments)

remax advantage searcy ar: Doniphan Lake Kensett Searcy AR. Baptism. - 01/01/16 05:23 AM

Sherry Snow on December 31, 2015 published a special article in the Searcy Daily Citizen regarding a club called the Doniphan Chicks,  a group of ladies who don't want the town of  Doniphan to be forgotten.  The article says that the little town once had three hotels or boarding houses, an elementary school, a doctor, barbershop and a post office.  75 residents lived in three to four room homes.  You must read the article to fully appreciate the lake that lies between Searcy and Kensett.
I found this old picture in my files and it actually tells who the folks in … (2 comments)

remax advantage searcy ar: Tempted. So tempted to go buy book by Joe Webb on ebay.... - 07/31/15 01:34 AM
I wrote a blog about Searcy's own Joe Webb a few years back.  Here's the link to the blog if you want to read all about Rodger's Perfection, the horse, and his trainer.  Rodger's Perfection was the world's champion walking horse.
Right now there is a book written by Joe Webb in 1967 called "The Care and Training of the Tennessee Walking Horse" offered on ebay.  Now I never rode horses and I never saw the performance of Rodger's Perfection but he was from our little city of Searcy and was owned by a much-loved Searcy doctor so I am tempted to … (5 comments)

remax advantage searcy ar: Jacksonport AR, historic county courthouse, 1872 - 1892, Newport AR - 02/24/14 09:02 AM
Real estate can be trying.  Real estate can be fun.  But real estate is never boring!  Daughter Valerie Canepa and I had to go to Jacksonport Arkansas to check on a property.  I had never heard of Jacksonport and neither had she.  We found it just on the other side of Newport Arkansas. (Jacksonport served as an important steamboat stop and trading center at the confluence of the White River and Black River, until being bypassed by the Iron Mountain and Southern Railroad shortly after becoming county seat, according to Wikipedia.)
Today, it is a city of about 212 folks and … (14 comments)

remax advantage searcy ar: The old court house in Searcy Arkansas had a big party. Get Down Downtown 2010. - 09/27/10 02:28 PM
The court house in Searcy Arkansas dates back to 1869 when bids were taken to build it. Bids were taken and it did cost more than the $25,000 that had been appropriated.  It had the North and South wings added around 1912.  The picture below was sent to me by a blog friend and shows a band some time a LONG time ago posing outside the courthouse.

The court house has been in continuous operation since built and has seen some great festivities and some sad times.  At the Get Down Downtown Festival Sept 25 and 26 people gathered from miles … (14 comments)

remax advantage searcy ar: Guest writer shares information about Arkansas highways and bridges. - 05/04/10 02:54 PM
Jim Bohannon, a blog contributor and reader, has sent me this information.  I have just been to the website and enjoyed pulling up the old magazines.  The photographs and the ads were interesting.  I think one could spend a month in there exploring.  I'm gonna have to find time to go back!  Thanks, Jim, for sharing.
If any of your viewers are interested in early Arkansas Highways & Bridges, the Arkansas State Highway & Transportation Departmen has a website that shows a PDF fiile of the history of Arkansas highways & bridges from 1924 to 1932. It's a great historical source … (11 comments)

remax advantage searcy ar: Our little RE/MAX Advantage entrepreneur is back this summer. - 06/30/09 12:07 AM
Last year I wrote a blog about Rainey, the broker's son who hangs around our office in the summer because it is boring at home.
Here he is again.  He needs to borrow 30 cents again and reminds me
that his credit is good.  He paid me back last year.>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now here he is beaming at me
after he has paid me back the
30 cents WITH INTEREST this
year.  He actually gave me
35 cents because he wants to
make sure his credit is really
really good with me.

And then I suggested to … (33 comments)
