searcy sleuths: A picture of Searcy Super Sleuths. Avon vintage item. - 04/19/22 11:09 AM

This makes me think of all the Searcy experts who help me with this blog.
It is an Avon Super Sleuth Magnifier which has a handle that screws onto the magnifying glass and is called Everest After Shave.  The after shave is still in the handle and contains alcohol!  Age is not stated but it has been in my attic for many years.  Searcy Sleuths, can you help with this vintage item? This blog is a tribute to all of you and I do like the artwork!  You are a handsome group!!

searcy sleuths: There she is again! Anita Hart Fuller keeps popping up in unexpected places. - 09/04/14 11:50 PM
Anita Hart Fuller is one of our Searcy Super Sleuths who has supplied lots of old pictures and lots of comments for this blog.
I wrote about her once before because she hopped up in a house that I was listing.  There she sat above the fireplace.  The link is below and the house is no longer for sale.  I also found her lurking in another picture.  See that link below also.
I was at the Searcy Art Gallery on East Race yesterday and after checking out the art exhibit stopped by the little gift shop.  I found a cookbook that … (13 comments)

searcy sleuths: Girls in costume, Searcy AR. Many crowns but who was the queen? - 03/02/14 10:43 PM
Snowed in.  It is March 3, 2014 and a Monday morning and I should be out working but the weather disagreed.  I'm stuck at home.  What could be better to do than look through old pictures and possibly reblog one that was blogged before facebook became available.
Here's one of my favorites.  Lots of lovely little girls all dressed up in their costumes for some grand occasion.  Some may also be Searcy Sleuths of today.  Some may still reside in Searcy.  But all, no doubt about it, will remember this day and perhaps one of us will tell us about the … (4 comments)

searcy sleuths: Probably unchanged old home in Searcy AR. Sleuths, can you find it? - 09/15/13 03:18 AM
Several of the Searcy Sleuths no longer live in Searcy but are proud of the town where they grew up.
I'm thinking that this house dates back to their youth in Searcy and has probably had no changes since that time.  It has been on this big pretty lot since I have been in Searcy.  I once wrote a blog about the bigger the tree, the older the house.  Go review it if you'd like.  The tree was at the old home of Wilbur Mills in Kensett.
Now look at the size of the tree in this front yard!
Each time … (15 comments)

searcy sleuths: Sleuths love puzzles. So who is this young man from Searcy Arkansas? - 03/06/13 08:54 AM
Bridget Hart, who was the daughter-in-law of Dick Hart, well known former Chief of Police in Searcy Arkansas has supplied another picture.
Knowing how the Searcy Sleuths love a puzzle and they actually get peeved if I put the puzzle on facebook before they see it, I'm putting this up for them on Activerain before putting on facebook.  Those facebook folks are quick!
Who is this handsome young person from Searcy AR? (The young man, not the baby.)  Any clues that you see in the photograph are fair play.

searcy sleuths: Found! At last! My little vine-covered cottage that I romantically dreamed of. - 09/30/11 02:03 PM
Oops!  My little vine-covered cottage of which I have dreamed.  Never end a sentence with a preposition.  Oops!  Was that a sentence fragment?  What I meant to say is this.
We have always heard of vine-covered cottages where love lives on and on.  Now that I'm in real estate, I have learned that vines growing on houses is bad for the house.  One needs to go outside and jerk those crawling, clinging suckers down as soon as they touch the house.
So when I saw this one today I knew I needed to take a picture.  It is a perfect example … (34 comments)

searcy sleuths: Splendor once. Now in need of a little help. Old house in White County Arkansas. - 07/09/11 10:50 AM
Don't you just love it when you're driving along and see something interesting?
Kinda unbelievable so that you have to stop and look?
And take a picture?
I did.
This old house must have a history and the history must have some people with class because this house appears to have been a real beauty.

It has as many rooflines as the modern houses have.  Gables here and gables there and a nice little dormer in the front.  Some happy kids probably looked down from that dormer.
I'm going to let the Searcy Sleuths see if they can locate it … (17 comments)

searcy sleuths: What was this building earlier? Searcy Sleuths, help me please. - 01/16/11 03:27 AM
Just for fun I'm asking what this building usta' be?  It is, yes, on Race Street, and you can see the name of the business in there now.  But what is the building's history?

If you have a picture of it in its earlier years, we'd love to have it on this blog.  Surely, someone out there might have an old photo.  Dig in your old files and let us have a copy.  If you are not a member of activerain you can't upload a picture but you can send it to me and I'll upload it.

searcy sleuths: Picture of a house removed in Searcy Arkansas. It was for sale at the time of photo. - 09/25/10 01:20 AM
My real estate career dates back to 1979 when I obtained my real estate license.  I admit that before that I was pretty oblivious to houses, history, city growth or anything related to housing.  Raising kids is a job that can wipe out your energy for other things.
This blog, and the fast-becoming-famous Searcy Sleuths, have given me a greater appreciation for history and the old houses around Searcy Arkansas.
The Sleuths love a mystery so here's one for today.  Where, ye Searcy Sleuths, was this house?  You can't walk the Google path and find it because it is gone.  You … (24 comments)
