I think agents everywhere like it when they see comments on a listing say something like this: "New furnace and A/C '07, new roof (complete tear off) '05, new windows "09, new hot water tank '10". I, personally, especially like to see this when I am showing to first time buyers. The majority of my first time buyers do not have a lot of money. Many are single Moms or Dads raising a child or two on their own. So I am happy when I can find them a home with recent updates to the more costly repair items. I am … (6 comments)

A few years ago I was showing a home to a young man and his girlfriend. There was one home in particular that they really liked. They wanted to go back for a second look, but I could not accommodate their time so he said to me "Can you just give me the lock box code?" The answer then, now, and forever will always be "NO". Let's Not Trash Each Other's Companies...It's more than Unprofessional! I know that times are tough for many people and many businesses. Competition is fierce as expected. But must people keep on trashing each other's companies, especially when they don't have all the facts? In my 24 years in real estate, I have worked for Coldwell Banker, Smythe Cramer (now Howard Hanna), Sterling Realty, and now ReMax. The only company I can really speak knowledeably about is ReMax, and I can't even get that specific because every ReMax office is independently owned and operated.
