pareto realty: Monday Morning Coffee – igbok - 09/16/13 12:10 AM
Whatever it is . . . It’s gonna Be OK! REALLY!
It IS!
We ALL have plenty to fret about.
ANYTHING can go wrong and according to Murphy, EVERYTHING will.
It usually hits the fan when you least expect it . . . and it comes in 3′s.
Sometimes it kicks you when you’re already down . . . and then kicks again and again and again, until you start to think ALL of your Good Luck is gone – used up.
It’s easy to start thinking that you’re jinxed, and that EVERYONE else is living a charmed and hassle-free life … (1 comments)

pareto realty: The Best Defense is a Good Offense – and Vice-versa - 09/15/13 04:17 AM
“We’re going to use our Defense in our Offensive strategy.” Yesterday, our soccer team (6th grade girls) had 2 back-to-back games. The first game was TOUGH because the other team had 3 BIG, MATURE players who we figured were older 6th graders who had already had their growth spurt. We lost that game because of a Penalty kick late in the 2nd half . . . an unlucky hand-ball in the Goal Box.
The 2nd game was different. Our team was controlling the field throughout the 1st half (and leading 3-0). When Coach David sees that we would be running up … (1 comments)

pareto realty: When FATTER is BETTER . . . - 09/14/13 11:32 PM
There’s a HUGE industry surrounding the health concerns of obesity in America these days. Just about any Doctor will tell you myriad reasons to slim yourself down . . .
Save your own life by Eating smaller portions of healthier foods and exercising daily.
This has many people thinking “thinner is better,” and when it comes to personal health and well-being . . . I agree.
BUT . . .
Thinner is NOT always BETTER.
I can think one aspect of your business in which FATTER is BETTER.
The FATTER your pipeline of prospects and new customers and clients, the healthier … (3 comments)

pareto realty: Birthday – Anniversary – New Year? - 09/13/13 06:24 AM
Whatever you call it, your annual celebration invites the most sacred introspection of your year. When you’re born, you have a Birth Certificate which is legal proof that you were born . . . and when.
Same goes for a Business (Firm License) or a Wedding (Marriage Certificate) . . .
On that date from the day of birth, each anniversary affords this wonderful opportunity to:
pause and reflect on the past appreciate and assess the present and imagine the future. These Annual celebrations are times for celebrating the successes and challenges of the prior year and reminiscing about all of … (0 comments)

pareto realty: Monday Morning Coffee – When a Team Comes Together - 09/09/13 12:51 AM
We see it every day . . . A team of talented performers/players who show up for the game and everything goes wrong. It’s these out of synch moments that can be real morale killers. Often, the first fumble can kill any possibility of early momentum to carry through the rough parts of the match.
UNLESS the team remembers the fundamentals of playing as ONE.
The TN Titans started yesterdays game with the Steelers (Who were favired to win by 7.5 points) in a BAD way. On the VERY first kickoff, our Kick-off return specialist caught the ball in the field … (2 comments)

pareto realty: The Escalation Clause – Just (DON’T) Do It! - 09/08/13 06:44 AM
How can a Home Buyer WIN in a Multiple offer contest? Here in Middle Tennessee, we’re fresh out of Housing inventory in many segments of our market. There are plenty of “Ravenously Hungry” Buyers out there watching the market like hawks and POUNCING on anything that appears in their sights.
It’s market conditions like these that give rise to increasingly creative strategies to WIN the next house that comes on the market.
Some REALTORS leak “Coming Soon” details about a new listing prior to going live in the MLS. This is a purposeful way to build excitement amongst the Buyers and … (3 comments)

pareto realty: Don’t Sell me! SERVE Me! - 09/05/13 05:51 AM
Quit telling me what I want! Odds are good that if I’m in your field of vision, I’m already a prospect.
Your job is NOT to tell me what I “SHOULD” be buying from you.
Your job IS to spend some time with me and LEARN what I WANT and NEED to buy.
Get to know me.
Learn a bit about my family, my hobbies, my peeves, and what excites me.
Discover what’s important (what MATTERS) to me and help me find THAT.
How can you make my life easier?
Approach me in service.
Meet me where I am instead of requiring me … (2 comments)

pareto realty: Is the Mid-Century Ranch an Endangered Species? - 09/04/13 06:39 AM
Is Extinction Imminent? Here in Nashville (Middle TN) in the 1940s to the 1970s, there were something in the neighborhood of a Bajillion Brick Ranch houses built on relatively spacious in-town lots (1/4 – 1 Acre). Some folks believe there was only one floor plan available for this 30 year period, and the only variation on the plan was the size of the house . . . builders might build’m longer or wider, but otherwise stuck with a plan that seemed to work.
These brick ranches have served us all very well . . . and continue to serve us . … (2 comments)

pareto realty: It’s going to be up to US to create the Fall market - 09/03/13 05:56 AM
Some folks claim the passing of Labor Day marks the beginning of the Fall Real Estate Market. I think that stems (locally) from the fact that most grade schools have historically commenced classes on the first Tuesday of September . . . Somehow, the school systems have been inching their way towards a “Year-round” calendar, so school starts in the beginning of August.
Regardless, let’s just say that the Fall Market started this morning.
Does it feel any different than the “Summer Market?”
For sure, we had VERY active 2013 Winter and Spring markets this year posting sales statistics showing 20+% … (1 comments)

pareto realty: Original? or Copy? - 08/31/13 06:55 AM
Which is it? You were born as an “Original” . . . and there’s not another one like you.
Yep!
ALL of your magnificence is to YOUR credit.
This is the same with ALL of us. We are ALL “Originals” in a world which seems to be conspiring to neutralize (homogenize) us by imposing limitations and boundaries on our ability to simply BE our original authentic self.
Social Pressures define the way we think we should look and behave . . . because we ALL want to “Fit In”
We compare ourselves to others and aspire to be like them.
Marketers … (2 comments)

pareto realty: Start – Stop – Continue - 08/27/13 07:56 AM
Consistent Persistence This morning, I witnessed an amazing “EO Panel” facilitated by Joe Calloway at the Oh-So-CoolBytes of Knowledge “House” in Nashville’s trendy Germantown.
This was a veritable treasure chest of knowledge . . . 5 of Nashville’s greatest Entrepreneurial minds selflessly sharing their passions . . . and their respective “Secret Formulas” for success.
The more I listened, the more I realized that none of what they were saying was all that spectacular. Most of the things they say are the things that we ALL KNOW we should be doing in our daily businesses and lives.
What differentiates these “geniuses” from others boils down to … (0 comments)

pareto realty: Monday Morning Coffee – One Small Favor . . . Please? - 08/26/13 12:51 AM
Good Morning! Have you ever considered the “Ripple Effect” of one small favor?
Just an ounce of generosity can create a TON of good will.
This phenomenon defies all of the Laws of Physics.
How can one small gesture launch a chain of events that influence the lives of so many others?
This video offers a nice, feel-good representation.

I see it every day:
While driving – Go ahead and shift over a lane to let someone in While working – Take a minute to help out a colleague with a challenge At home – Pause what you’re doing to … (7 comments)

pareto realty: On Ways Social Media Can Be Socially Suicidal – BONUS – 2 Top 10 Lists - 08/25/13 03:49 AM
There are not many people in the “civilized world” who are not engaged/participating in some form of social media.
Facebook alone boasts over a HALF BILLION users (Yes! 500,000,000+) – and there’s Twitter and Snapchat and instagram and facetime and linkedin and and and . . .
A friend on Facebook shared this link:
Facebook Makes Us Sadder And Less Satisfied, Study Finds My first thought was along the lines of:
“This depends on how you allow it to “make you feel.”
After all, don’t we all still have the Spiritual, Mental, and Social capacity of CHOICE? Can we not CHOOSE … (1 comments)

pareto realty: 3 Hour Tour is the limit of Civility - 08/23/13 01:13 AM
Gilligan and his friends went on a 3 hour tour that turned into quite a long adventure on a remote island which was a veritable Psychological petrie dish. That group of people had no choice but to co-exist and deal with each other “Warts and ALL” for what they must have believed to be an eternity.
IN a fascinating way, the Gilligan’s Island experience holds startling similarity to the possible experience of a REALTOR and Home Buyer touring homes.
My 20+ years of experience has taught me the value of the “3 Hour Tour” . . . and not longer . … (1 comments)

pareto realty: Remarkable – Exceptional – Quintessential – AVAILABLE in Bellevue - 08/21/13 06:02 AM
816 Huntwood Place is now available Sometimes, conjuring the right words to capture the true essence of a property isn’t easy for this REALTOR . . . This house is one of those houses because it is simply magnificent in so many ways.
The minute the current owners walked in the front door in 2001, they KNEW this was the right house for them, and they have absolutely cherished every minute of their time savoring the privacy that the “Escarpment” behind offers, watching the deer play, and enjoying the easy one-level living the house so graciously provides.
With nearly 4,300 square … (4 comments)

pareto realty: Is this a Bubble? - 08/19/13 04:39 AM
“THIS Real Estate market is ON FIRE!” “Is this a Bubble?”
Could it be real, and will it last?
I hear these questions daily as the news media continues to blast out the great news of the Nashville Real Estate market turning out record sales each of the last several months. The numbers are consistently 20-25% increases over last year in terms of number of sales.
After such a painfully long period of “Downturn,” most folks aren’t quite ready to call what we are experiencing anything close to a solid recovery because there are some things that still need to be sorted … (0 comments)

pareto realty: Posturing for success - 08/16/13 06:31 AM
The first symptom was an audible “SNAP” and twinge of paralyzing pain in the left side of my neck as I was rinsing my hair in the shower. What followed was an unpleasant several months of a variety quirky symptoms . . . Shooting pains down my left arm, continued discomfort in my neck, and some of the craziest random pains in my back apparently most aggravated while sitting.
Stubborn me (who doesn’t like going to doctors) endured these symptoms with Heroic bravado . . . thinking all the while that I could heal myself doing what I knew to do in … (1 comments)

pareto realty: There’s no Accounting for Crazy People - 08/15/13 01:36 AM
Sometimes, it can be difficult to avoid other people’s drama. As much as we try to insulate ourselves, we’ll get sucked in.
This is a complicated and inescapable web that has many ways to ensnare us.
Even the best of us will occasionally slip into this toxic vortex and allow it to (momentarily) consume our very being.
The spinners of these drama webs of entrapment might:
insult us Suddenly turn into the devil personified Falsely Accuse us of  wrongdoings Cast blame on us for all of their issues Spread false rumors about us Build an alliance of other people against us … (4 comments)

pareto realty: Do you SELL? CONSULT? LEAD? or WHAT? - 08/14/13 11:40 AM
The semantics are fluid . . . Ask any gaggle of  people whose profession is “in sales” what they do for a living, and you’ll hear a veritable smorgasbord of responses.
So which is it?
In my industry, I tend to use the blanket term “Real Estate Sales Professional” which I think is plenty descriptive and offers a measure of respect and honor for the hardworking, ethical members of our profession.

pareto realty: Before you commit to that new project, just THINK! - 08/13/13 07:47 AM
This idea could be worth a MILLION BUCKS! How often do you think of a GREAT, NEW business idea that you KNOW will be a REAL WINNER in your market?
You see this gaping hole in the market and can vividly see a “fix” . . .
NO ONE else understands how to fix it, and EVERYONE shares the frustration of having to work over, under, or through, the obstacle course this gap presents . . . and YOU are the ONLY person who “GETS IT”
For sure – If you can implement your plan, you’ll make a million bucks.
WAIT!
